Copy cat & need help…
D’Jen has inspired me to do something about my hair since I hate it at the moment and she took the plunge and cut hers again and it looks bloody fantastic. And Enny has given me a way to find out what I should do. I am asking you fellow bloggers! I am copying!
I have put six photos from the last couple of years that show my hair in different styles/stages/colours/countries in a folder on flickr here and I want to know which was good or what I should do with my hair. Suggestions welcome. I got it cut in Australia recently and didn’t like it. For more recent shots see here or look at my other flickr shots.
They are crap photos but I don’t really have many photos that show my hair as such…so the photos in there are VERY random.
Let me know what you all think!! Please! I want to cut it or do something before BB’s wedding in a couple of weeks.
Vote & give lots of advice!
ps: thanks to Jen’s helpful advice I put notes on the photos so everyone will know which one is me! Although I am not shy about showing my face on my blog so most people already know!!

hey lulu, omg, your hair in the racedayfeb pic is just fab! i think that style really suits you and the colour is terrific too. in fact, i like it so much that i’m thinking of getting mine cut just like that, as i’ve been thinking about changing mine.
do you have a hairdresser here? i go to kelly (as recommended by bab!) and she is terrific.
Aww, thanks!
I must agree with gaijin girl, I love the race day pic. I also quite like the one in which you are the hairdressers model.
I think you look very cute with short hauir, take the plunge!!
P.S I am in love with the dark red your hair is in the most recent pics. Is it natural?
i love the last one… i think oct 2005 it was
Okay got it. So far it is 2 for race day and one for Movie world 05. So I am guessing everyone thinks I should stay red??
GG- I have to make an appointment with Kelly hopefully before BB’s wedding! Did you go to the GNO last night? I was there right at the start but because I was sick one of the girls from work ran the rest of it.
D’Jen- My natural hair colour is a bit of a mystery! As a young child it was dark blond but by the time I started school it was brown. Then at 15 when I started dying my hair I think it changed. It was blondish for rest of highschool and formals then I went dark, then I went red, then I went natural but it always sort of looked kind of reddish (That was in Japan last time and I couldn’t afford to dye my hair!) went home and went multicoloured as seen in photos on flickr but at the moment my hair is darkish red/brown is suppose…Its not natural though.
I love bright red hair but it fades so quickly!
sam- Thanks for stopping by and helping me with my decision. I will add it to the tally!!!
Imitation something something good flattery - HOORAY!
My votes in order:
RaceDay
Aug05
Oct05
I like the colours - I like the mostly red with blonde in RaceDay, then it’s like the opposite for Aug 05 and the Oct05 is really cool - I could never carry that off!!! Tho, I’m thinking of asking for those brightly coloured extension things at the bottom back of my hair nex time.
I’m SOOOO not the person to ask for advice - I prefer to ask for it - I hope you get good feedback from the helpfuls (d’jen in particular!!)
LOL Enny, I like to give advice about this sort of stuff but it doesn’t mean it’s necessarily useful, but I’m very pleased you think I’m helpful, it’s very flattering
Lulu, you hair color sounds as mysterious as mine. I was also blonde, then it went to kind of dark blonde, then I started dying it. The roots still come back fairly light brown, so I dare say I’d still be dark blonde if I let it come through. I don’t feel like “me” unless I have dark hair though.
I think you should stay the color you are at the moment, it has very good depth and is SUCH a nice color. I used to be firey red in highschool for a bit, it was fun but my skin is too pink based to pull it off long term.
Do you wear headbands? They are SO in at the moment here, they look super cute in short hair, let me know if you want me to get you some for your package
Greetings Lulu,
I must say, I am not at all the right person for advice either, having sported the same haircut since the mid-80s, except for a brief and mercifully short period when my mother thought it would be ‘cool’ to have a mullet.
That’d be the late 80s obviously.
I must however beg upon the chance to intrude. At Delightful Jen’s suggestion, myself and any remaining companions not annoyed at the inexcusable delay in our departure, come seeking advice on matters blogging, a place for genial conversation, and perhaps, as you’ve the most knowledge of obscure food to be had, the recipe for Suggestios(tm) — “Its all in the ™”.
There might be more, someone else will remember.
racedayfeb 025 is by far the best, in my opinion.
Um, dearest Lulu,
Point 1. Not that I was particularly looking, but was that a frog down your top?
Point 2. The hair you had with the pink dress was my favourite. Awesome dude!
Point 3. I liked playing Where’s Lulu, do you have any more but I couldn’t find you in August 05, there was some model in the way.
Point 4. The Lulu is Grouse series continues.
Thanks everyone for all your help. I looked at my bank book today and realized I might have to put off having a haircut for a bit but will probably go for the raceday style…probably will leave it the colour it is now though I think.
D’Jen- I love headbands. They are my savior!
Enny- My hair is always crazy colours but not always something I choose myself. I knew quite a few hairdressing apprentices and people needing hair models in australia…And i love a free haircut and colour…just sometimes I walked away slightly multicoloured. Go for the extensions…they sound cool!
Boysenberry- Thanks! I bet you are glad to have finished up your job today!!
Burgher Russ de Hotham Esq- Um, thanks I think. I tried to read your blog and just got confused. What sort of weird food you after mate? Dried squid?
Adam- I am really enjoying lulu is Grouse series…Thanks also for the compliments I think!
Very happy, thanks Lulu
You’re welcome, I think.
*shifts books and stuff to get a better angle in on the conversation*
Hail Lulu, I am come far and wide, following the fine esquire de Hotham to destinations most interesting and (usually) accomodating. We are come on a quest of grand obscurity. We beseech thee to tell us:
- from whence your desire to blog comes?
- where we should head after our perusal of this fine page?
- and if you have about your person a recipe for the ancient yet distinctly ‘Estrayn’ delicacy known to our fair company as Suggestios ™ we would be most greatful. So far we have found they can be smoked or chewed; and that, essentially, as our dear Burgher has already acknowledged, ‘it’s all in the ™’.
Forgive me, as I must now return to my study, but a final word as to the dilema of your hair: my advice is to always try something new, so any cut not featured in your photos would be most delightfully and readily endorsed.
PS. Burgher, would love to see you in a mullet
Lulu, thanks for your message. If you are confused it might help if you go here and read from the beginning: http://deggles.csoft.net/index.php?groupid=77
If you follow the trail of the Quest’ you’ll get the gist of it.
In the tradition of the Quest, I’m posting the comment you left on my archive here:
Lulu said: “Dear Hooch,
thank you for your hair advice over on my blog. I will consider the mullet idea however I think if i put it to a vote that it would be out voted…
What it is you need from me? I am slightly confused by your way with words…
The desire to blog came originally from reading an article in the magazine I work on…Also because sending emails home was slightly tedious…Now I have more loyal readers than my mother which is intresting…
I think you have already viewed most of the aussie blogs on my favourites list but you might want to try some in the Japanese list… some i check everyday include gaijin girl strikes again, sushizume and japan window. I also check out mixi mixi.jp most days to see what my Japanese friends are up to.
your third question has me stumped…what is ™? and what sort of food/recepies are you after?”
Thanks for the answering my questions three; my confusy language is due to my Questing enthusiasm; it seems the recipe for Suggestios ™ eludes even you, our fair host. The most important thing to remember that ‘it’s all in the ™’.

As a tautologically angry barbarian, is warm the cockles of the ‘eart to be back in Japan…you wouldn’t happen to know any ronin seeking a duel? How about evil spirits, perhaps?
And seeing the cherry blossoms makes me think of haiku…
Lulu has hair questions
through the wonder of internet
the world has answers
Technically, I suppose seeing I’m in Japan, and G&S inclined, a good angry barbarian would break into some Mikado rewrites, but I don’t have time if I’m going to duel me some ronin…
gaijin girl strikes again? sushizume? japan window? mixi mixi.jp? So much to choose from, (Lulu, would you care to narrow it down?). What’s it to be, oh Burgher of the blogosphere? Where e’er you lead, I, your humble servant (and former, now failed, scout) will follow….
That’s alright, I am neglecting my leadership duties in favour of thesis related reading, and with luck, perhaps some writing.
I think we shall go to see Sushi Zume, as she posts regularly. On Wednesday though…. no, really!
ay ay Capt’n!
hmmmm……………….Burgher? helllllllooooooooo? Apple logies if you’ve already moved on, not posted about it, and I just haven’t seen it yet……but ummm….anyone….
