Cat and James’ Birthday bash went really well on Saturday night. The 58th floor of Sunshine Building in Ikebukuro is amazing and the food and drinks as well as the view were fab!
Happy birthday for Cat last week and for James this weekend (and to my dad who is also this weekend and my brother who was last week…Paul you should get my present by the end of the week!)
To see a collection of photos from the night see here but for now a couple of my favourites
Other random stuff (cos I am lazy and won’t do seperate posts)
On my walk through the park last night…I counted 39 couples (I don’t think I counted any twice) the oldest would of been in their early 60′s and the youngest would of been about 14 or 15. I can’t go for a walk tonight because it is raining here in Tokyo
but if the weather is OK i will go again tomorrow!!
I also want to say that there were two nursery school kids that were killed yesterday in Saitama prefecture after a guy not paying any attention ran into the 33 children and 5 teachers walking along the side of the road on their way to the park. Often kindergartens and schools don’t have outside play areas in their schools so it is normal to see kindergarten aged children walking along the side of the road often holding onto this special rope with space for their hands. A lot of times there are sidewalks or protective railings but often there is not. Yesterday there wasn’t either. I know when I worked in International kindergartens here going to the park was a daily ritual. The driver admitted to not paying attention and was arrested for professional negligence but I am not sure what sort of penalty this involves.
I feel so sorry for the families who lost their young children(aged 4 and 3) and also for the other children who were there because it would of been such a horrific thing to see. At last news report two other children were still in critical condition. I hope that now only will drivers start paying more attention but also that schools will also think twice before taking their students along the road especially when there is not guard rails or footpaths available.

Yikes! Hopefully the driver gets locked up for a long, long time. Not paying attention is a pitiful excuse for slaughtering 3 & 4 year olds.
And the 58th floor?? That’s one TALL building!
Hi! What a cool blog you have, I loved looking through it and getting to know you. I love Japan!
Send me an email to skinnylattegirl@gmail.com and I’ll send you the details of my new site – I’d love for you to keep reading.
xxx Phil
I heard about the accident with the nursery school kids. It’s so sad when stuff like that happens to people when they aren’t doing anything wrong themselves.
I’m so impressed they take the little kids to the park often, kids that age love (and need) to play outside.
You are so cute! The birthday party looks awesome and I can’t believe the view!
P.S I am pretty much in love with the guy on the left in the “Leader and John” pic.
You do indeed have the biggest smile in the whole world! Well, maybe not the whole world, but definitely out of the whole 58th floor.
I do feel totally sad for all the other little kids, kinda hits me straight in the stomach. What a tragic thing to deal with so young!
B- Looks as though he might only get 5 years. 5 years!!!!!! I am shocked and appalled.
Phillipa- Please send me the link! I emailed you!!! I would like to put it on my favourites but let me know if you don’t want that!
Jen- You like John? What about Shumpei? Are you not in love with him? I think Shumpei is hot! John is lovely too…I will tell him to sign up for RSVP and hunt you down!
I wish the photo of the view was better. It looked better than the photo by like 100 percent!
Adam- I noticed you called D’Jen young lady today…I am glad I am not the only one! Haha, everyone comments on my smile. I used to hate it but I think I am getting used to it…It has only taken 21 years! It is funny in photos I have of me and Shumpei’s familly…I not only stand out because I am the only non-asian but also because I am usually the only one smiling.
I am still in shock over the accident on Monday. It is so terrible…
Lulu, Shumpei is cute, but he’s taken, by you! So it would be kind weird to confess if I was madly in love with him on your blog
I cannot handle to response from RSVP people, tell him to go to my blog instead
Lulu, do you not like being called ‘young lady’?
I’m glad you’re getting used to your smile, it’s a bit of a stunner!
I actually came to this post to declare my love for Shumpei and tell everyone that I think he’s superhot – but Jen’s comment has pretty much talked me out of such a declaration.
