Typhoon season…
The last couple of days have not been that great.
So sorry for lack of blogging.
A typhoon hit Tokyo Thursday night and continued through Friday. On Friday I took an umbrella from phone and it turned inside out and almost poked my eye out due to the spokes…I proceeded to have two other umbrellas break during the day. Three umbrellas in one day…how is that even possible? (I did see broked umbrellas littered aroudn the streets yesterday though!)
I walked home soaked because I was determined I was not going to buy another umbrella. I have not been able to go for walks/jogs because of the weather. ALthough I did cycle yesterday.
I think Friday put me in a bad mood for yesterday and I was just grumpy all day. Now I am back at Shumpei`s parents house and his brothers wedding is tomorrow and well I am nervous because it is not normal for GIRLFRIENDS to go to this sort of thing and I know his mum would prefer if we pretended we were engaged but I won`t do it. I am sure by the end of day my brain will have exploded due to an overload of Japanese….
It is almost midday so I should probably wake Shun up….

the typhoon weather was insane! not a good time to realise my shoes weren’t waterproof. i literally had to wring out my socks and trousers when i got home.
you do sound a bit down, mate. hang in there and i hope your day gets better and that the wedding is fun. you could always pretend you don’t speak japanese to take the pressure off?
at least the sun is shining…
Thanks for your comment on my blog
Have a great time at the wedding!! It seems Japanese familys aren’t all that different to Italian ones when it comes to this sort of thing!!!
Three umbrellas in one day must be some sort of record!
I only remember one day like that in Brisbane, there was a thunder storm and mini hail storm which swept through the city. From our building we could see all these people holding their umbrellas directly out infront of them charging through the rain, or trying to flip them back out the right way. There was lots of broken umbrellas sticking out of bins then too.
Hope the wedding went well, pictures please!!
Hey wow - Sounds scary!!!
(the storm AND the wedding)
Never been to a Japanese wedding. I hope you post some pics
Once, way back in 1995, the ship I was on passed through the tail of a typhoon not far from Guam. That was bad enough - stuff being bloody in one!
I hope you’ve had a chacne to dry off by now!
Everyone- Exhausted but the wedding is over and I am so glad that Tuesday is my day off work!
Typhoon season is just starting and while the Typhoon didn’t actually HIT Tokyo we still got all the wind and rain….I love typhoons, but usually when I am inside!
Whoa! My comment never got posted here. I left the very first one, dagnammit! Oh well, my question was, is a tradition japanese wedding very different to a japanese western one?
My second question is, when are you getting married?
Yeah the traditional japanese wedding compared to the western japanese weddings are very different. Traditional weddings follow shinto tradition. I don’t know a lot about them though.
I have no plans to get married at this stage!!
