How do you…
How do you keep track of the blogs you read? Or even the sites you visit on a regulary basis….
I am at a complete loss of how to stay on top of things like this. Since I started working full-time again I have had a hard time keeping track of the blogs I want to read. I usually just use the sidebar on my own blog but I really need to go through and add some and delete some I think. Plus what about news sites? I really want one site where it will have it all there for me, all I have to do is log in. But is it worth the trouble it will take me to set that up. I have to check sites manually to see if they have been updated which is getting to be a bit time consuming.
Does anyone use bloglines or something similar? Or do you swear by another method? Since my computer died a couple of months ago I use Shun`s computer for everything…So I lost all my old favourites list and while I have started adding to one on this computer again I keep forgetting to add them to my blog so that I actually go visit the sites!!
Help me people!
Ps: I am not sure how I have managed to post for the last four days…Don`t get to used to it!
Pps: Had a terrible day at work yesterday. Just me and the kids in the morning as Sumi was off sick with the flu. But then she had to come in cos the other girl Stef is off Monday`s and we couldn`t reach her and we are meant to have a ratio of five to one at all times. Poor Sumi though, she was so sick and could barely walk. And having to catch the train and walking to the school would not of helped her. Catching the train sucks so bad when your sick!!! She went to the doctors again this afternoon and she definitely has influenza (Type A)…She will be off work at least until next monday but our boss wants her back Wednesday (Tomorrow), which is impossible….I feel so sorry for her. I also really hope that I do not get it!!
I have no idea how my grandmother managed to have NINE kids!!! I only had eight yesterday, and keeping an eye on them, answering the door for the book delivery people, answering the phone, helping one kid go to the toilet while holding another kid who was crying cos another kid through a block at her. Impossible!!!!
Thought I should let on that not everyday at my job is perfect since I always seem to be going on about how great it is!!!

hi lulu, i’m doing a post about this shortly. i use google reader although if you don’t have a gmail account, they’ll prob ask you to set one up. i couldn’t live without it now.
and off topic to your previous post – i had a dream about you last night so it was so weird to read that this morning! it was your birthday and we were on a beach in oz and you were going for your pilot’s license, but before you went up in the plane you took me for a spin in a big red double-decker bus. it was like a ride at the show and we were driving around sooo fast doing a big doughnut on the sand. i know, very strange…
I use blogrolling, but it’s very flawed… I’m usually checking blogs manually anyway. I think it only works (tells you who’s updated) for blogs who also use blogrolling. *shrugs* I have no idea. It’s a bitch. But I also have a massive favourites folder..
I wanted to comment on your earlier post about day in a life of me photos, but thought you might not get it… so i’m commenting up here:
LOVED the photos and you should definitely definitely definitely take more! It’s boring for you cos you see it all every day, but for us Australians (especially those who’ve never been to Japan) it’s fascinating!! I especially liked the street shot. More street shots! And kid shots! they’re so cute!
It’s funny how you posted that photo of “Enny” cos when I was in Melbourne last I took a photo of a big neon sign that said “Lulu” (it was the name of a club) and I always meant to post it for you, but I never got around to it.. so I must do that!!
GG- I have a google account, I just never use it cos I got so used to my hotmail one. But google seems to be leading in everything lately!
I don`t know what you look like, so can`t dream about you. Is that normal? I am pretty sure I don`t dream about people if I don`t know what they look like. I always look really skinny in my dreams though…Sorry off tangent there.
I liked the sound of the dream. Especially the big red double decker bus. Like the ones in London? Well thats how I imagined it!
Jac~ Sometimes I use your blog to see who has updated cos you have the cool little thing next to each one that says *updated* IS that blogrolling? I have been interenetting it up a lot in the last couple of days and my favourite folder has also grown. Shun will not be happy….There is a folder for me but half the time I forget to save them in it!
OHHH! I want to sea a big neon sign that says LULU…It was a strip club wasn`t it? Lulu sounds like a strippers name…I curse my parents. While it is only a nickname it still sounds stripperish…It`s up there with CANDY.
I will do some more street and kid shots for you!!
I also use google reader. As you can see, it is how I keep track of your blog. I am interested in potentially moving to Tokyo after I finish up here in Berlin, and you and Gaijin Girl are great resources, thanks! Of course, if you are interested in a slice of life in the German capital, you can read mine.
Tschuss!
Hey there,
I use bloglines – it is pretty good and saves so much time!
Hope you avoid the flu, it sounds nasty.
Take care,
Suzy x
Bloglines is awesome. Sinced I’ve been working I check it every day and only go to someones blog if I either want to read comments or want to comment. It saves so much time and you can do news stuff there too, plus you can log in from anywhere and the screen is bland enough for inconspicuous work browsing.
The best advice I ever got though is to just spend some time setting it all up in one go. And then put a ’subscribe’ link in your toolbar for new sites you find. Doing it ad-hoc and without any organisation will not work.
I cannot rave enough. But I don’t want to hog your blog.
yay, set up a reader account then – you won’t be sorry
i’ve sometimes dreamt about people i know, but they actually look completely different in the dream to real life. for some reason i just know it’s them. is that normal? your dreams rock if you’re skinny in them.
the dream was great fun and it was a big bus, just like the ones in London. hehe.
I keep my blogroll fairly updated, so every afternoon when I come home from work I open Mozilla, highlight them ALL and ‘right click > Open In New Tabs’ then I can go through as they open and close them if they haven’t updated since last I saw them – I also keep a few stored in Mozilla if I haven’t decided to add them to the roll.
I also have about twenty saved in my favorites at work that I check at lunch (and during the day!).
I would use bloglines or similar, but I like checking peoples comments too, so I figure it’s proddly easier to just open them all!
Lulu, I used to have the same problem, and would always be really behind on the blogs I read. I’ve just started using Google Reader and have found it a lot easier to use than bloglines (which really confused me, but it doesn’t take much!).
I use NetNewsWire Lite as a news reader. I think it might only be for macs, but in the end it’s much faster than going to individual web pages.
I use Bloglines for updates but I had a system in my Gmail where I could prioritise comments but it fell apart with the Blogger upgrade.
