Something new everyday…

Is it true…do you learn something new everyday? Does this include things you learn about your partner?

A couple of days ago I bought bananas…I deliberately bought them a little green because I will only eat `new` bananas…In other words I will only eat them after buying them on the first or second day. A little neurotic perhaps but that is the way I like them. If I haven`t eaten them after three days then they will not get eaten, I can guarantee it.

Turns out Shumpei only likes `new` bananas too. I never knew that…After three years together I am still learning new things about him. I know it is crazy to say that you know EVERYTHING about your partner and I don`t believe people that say they do…and if they really do know everything there is to know then I pity them a little bit because where is the fun in that. I love it when I learn something new about Shumpei, even if it is something trivial to do with bananas.

Wouldn’t`t it be true to say that you learn more than one new thing everyday? I read the news on-line and everything I read it I am learning something new right? Does this count?

Do you think you could go the whole day without learning something new? What new things have you learnt recently?

  1. I think you do learn something every day- from the news, to the people around us, to something about ourselves. It might only be something small and insignificant, but it goes towards making us the people we are- and I think you’re right, we do learn more than one thing each day.

Can’t think of anything in particular I’ve learnt recently though!

  2. That’s funny – I only eat starchy bananas too, once they start going mushy I have to make them into muffins or cake.
I think you can learn something new every day, at least on average – some days I don’t feel like I learn anything new, but other days there are a ton of new things. Recently I have learned a whole lot of baby-related stuff, which is interesting because I didn’t know much at all before!

  3. Thats really interesting. Hmm who would have thought! Sounds like you guys are meant for eachother hehe. How cute.

I think Ryohei and I had a moment like that somewhat recently as well, but its slipping my mind. Well, we havent been together quite as long as you guys have and we’ve spend most of that time apart. grr…

I’m coming to Tokyo in a couple weeks!!! Are you going back for the holidays? It would be nice to meet up if we could arrange it, but this time of year that would probably be difficult, ne!

This is going to sound odd, but I just found out yesterday how skillful Naoki is with his toes… He can type with his feet, he can turn the kotatsu off and on with his feet, he can take my socks off with his toes… very strange!! They are just like fingers!!

  5. Amanda: Did you think about what you learnt today? I can think of three things I learnt today, two good, one bad.

Suzy: I hate mushy bananas but they do make good banana cake! I know a lot of stuff about toddlers now but babies…nada…Except that you should support their head. I guess I have a lot to learn!!

Sarah: I am sure once you and Ryohei are living together in Kobe that you will learn alot more about each other…Little things that would be hard to notice without living with someone for a long time. Some will be good and some will be bad! LOL! I am going back to Australia from the 22nd until the 8th of Jan…I was meant to be staying in japan but some stuff came up back home. When will you be in Tokyo?? If it is before the 22nd would love to meet up, otherwise there is always next time. Sometimes you come up here for work right?

Nay: That is odd! I am not sure if I wanted to know that…hehe…But it does make me want to attempt typing with my toes!!! I can take my socks off with my toes though…I thought everyone could?!

I only eat new Bananas too! Bananas that are too ripe just don’t appeal to be! But others in my family don’t mind them when they are softer…I think Mum once referred to it as “drinking bananas!” ewww!!!

I’m reading a book called “Why can’t I fall in love” at the moment and it says that it is important to keep talking to your partner, asking them questions, listening and learning more about them all the time, it says that’s the way to a healthy, happy relationship :)

I’m still learning new things about hubby after almost 10 years. And I hope it never stops!

  8. Haha, me too! When they are juuuust starting to turn from green to yellow I’ll eat them. After that, it’s banana bread or smoothies for them because I won’t eat a ripe banana. Ha.
