I'm with Lightening, I loved Nancy Drew, but Trixie Beldon was awesome!

I've got rid of a lot of books, but I have a full set of 52 classics which include things like Black Beauty and The Secret Garden. I wish I'd kept my Trixie Beldon, but if memory serves they were falling apart by the time I turned 13 :(

I liked Nancy Drew as well!! I remember borrowing a lot of them from the library. I was a huge reader when I was younger so I pretty much read all of the "popular" tween series. Sweet Valley Kids, Twins, and some of High, Baby Sitters Club, and Sleepover Friends.. I wonder if that was released outside of America.

I reread some of my old BSC books before I came to Japan, but feel like I've out grown them! I actually wrote a lot of stories as well but thats embarrasing so I'll keep it a secret!!

Suzy: Thanks for the link! I actually read keri smiths blog so have the list printed out and in an envelope in my journal!!!! I only ever read a couple of Agatha Christie novels but really should have read more! Will one day get around to them!

Lightening- I have heard of Trixie Belden but not sure If i read any. Would have to ask mum, she`d remember if I did or not! Might have to track some down and read them! I did keep some of my childhood books to pass on to my kids but I wish I could of kept more!

Nay: You and I have very similar tastes in books I think! Even now! I think once we are both in Japan we will be sending books back and forth between each other! By the way Sara is passing on Losing Kei to me and I will bring it to Australia to give to you! I never read Famous Five or Secret Seven though, although I do know a bit about them. They are the kind of books I think I will make my kids read! Oh I still by V.C Andrews books also....I am reading the series that started with Black Cat now (need to by the second book back in Australia if it is out!) My advice, don`t get rid of your childhood favourites! Especially if someone can store them for you...sure do a bit of a clean out (and if you don`t sell them, the mater hospital always appreciates books!) but keep all your favourites for sure! I really must look into Trixie Belden I think!

Lina: I have book obsessions still! All the time! I only ever read a couple of hardy boys but always liked it when Nancy Drew and the Hardy boys hooked up to solve a mystery! hehe! It is a shame your mum gave them away!

castocreations: I still read V.C Andrews! I have read them all (except for the ones that have come out most recently! I still love them but you are right they are a bit depressing (and weird!)

Sherrie: Thanks! I think I could still read Nancy Drew! I think I will read a couple when I am back in Australia.....would love to sit in bed all day and read. I never do that anymore cos I am on the net so much! I really should go back to reading more instead of spending all m time on here!

OMG! I loved all those books you mentioned, but I only started getting hooked on V C Andrews when I was 15.

Secret Seven and Famous Five was my obsession when I was about 10. Gosh, I even had the whole series of Hardy Boys. But my mom gave all my books away when I went to boarding school.

And it was the Mills & Boon series when I was 13 - 16. Hehehe

I have to admit I loved Nancy drew too!! Her books were one of the sets I recently got rid of! And Anne of Green Gables - I owned the whole series! I also loved sweet valley and the baby sitter club. I also liked Judy Blume's books - somebody recommended her to me, but I forget who it was! But I remember loving the "Secret Seven" and "Famous Five" series. I would race down to the library in primary school hoping to find one that I hadn't already read! I also read The hardy boys... I went to the Lifeline Book shop in the city many many times!! lol... I got the whole collection of Trixie Belden books from there too! Sadly, I too have had to get rid of all my childhood favourites

I only had a few Nancy Drew books. Did read Sweet Valley High and also Trixie Belden. Sadly, I got rid of all mine in a major declutter one time leaving nothing to pass on to my own kids. :( Which is doubly disappointing given some of the junk published for kids/preteens these days. Although some of the old favourites seem to be making a comeback in bookstores.
