I have to warn you about Grease 2. Some would say it is a terrible terrible movie but my younger sister and I loved it. We learned all the words to all the songs and tried to sew ourselves the "Pink Lady" jackets. It`s one of Michelle Pfeiffer`s (sp?) first movies.

The Lion King, The Princess Bride (the book is even better!), Star Wars (the original trilogy, of course), Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Fried Green Tomatoes, and A League of Their Own. When I got a bit older (teens), a lot of Mel Brooks and Monty Python. Oh, and Swing Kids! And... ok I just like a lot of movies :)

The first (and second, third...) time I went to the movies was summer holidays when the local gym was turned into a theatre and we sat in hot sweaty excitement and watched Alby Mangels! I thought he was soooo cool. *^_^*

I also loved (and still love) the princess bride. My brother and I used to quote whole scenes from it and still say 'as you wish' rather than yes. ;)

I've never seen the Sandlot kids. Should I?

Tj-injapan- Oh I forgot about Grease (and sound of music too!) I loved them both growing up! I didn`t know you had an older brother- who had a moterbike! Do you mean highschool? Such a shame we were a couple of years apart and I didn`t get to see that!!! The encyclopedia of me series has given me a chance to think back about a lot of things from the past- T is going to be for Travel which will give me a chance to talk about one of my most favourite things ever!

Tigermama- I didn`t see ET for the first time until I was about 12 or 13 I think?! I am a huge musical fan also although the wizard of oz scared me a lot when I was a kid! I have never seen Grease 2 or The Whiz so I will have to check them out

Jessica- I love "The land before Time" I watched it many times growing up. My brothers gf is a huge fan of David Bowie and knows the Labrinth by heart- I like it too, but she is devoted! I don`t think I have ever seen The Goonies, another I will have to check out.

Nay- OMG I love all the movies you mentioned! Except Flubber, which I don`t think I have seen. Although when you said it reminded me of Free Willy which I saw at the cinema when I was younger! You and I have similar tastes in books too and I can see it crosses over to movies also! What is your fav tv show?

Sarah- I have seen most of the movies you talked about although not the Shirley Temple one! Which I will have to check out! Definitely check out The Sandalot Kids- I am sure your girls will like it! It might be a bit boyish but I loved it growing up....there is a big dog in it though which might scare you littlies. But if they are ok with dogs I am sure they will be fine!

We didn't have a TV for a span of about 4 years when I was young but everytime we went to my grandpa's house we would watch the only two kid's movies he owned: The Little Princess with Shirley Temple and an animated version of Gulliver's Travels. Honestly my siblings and I still love those movies. Once we got a TV, other favorites were Space Camp, Flight of the Navigator, Goonies, Willow, The Princess Bride, Karate Kid and others like that. I've never seen The Sandlot Kids before, I might have to check it out!

Oh, I loved this post. My first trip to the cinema was when I was 10 years old (yes, remember I grew up in the country!) and I went to watch "Flubber" with my grandmother and my mum. Just thinking about it is bringing back the memories of excitement that I felt at the time!

Other personal favourites:
Grease (from about 13 years old)
Sound of music (as long as I can remember)
Dirty Dancing (from about 13 years old)
10 things I hate about you (from about 13 years old)

My, isn't Grease popular?? I always thought I was odd for loving Grease.... hrmm... interesting!

OMG there are sooo many great movies from my childhood!!

My favourites (and by favourites I mean I can watch them over and over, even now) are definitely The Goonies, Neverending Story, Beetlejuice and Labrynith. Orignially, my mum forced us to to go to watch Labrynith at the cinema cos she loves David Bowie and wanted to see him in tights!! (??!!) But it was awesome so all is now forgiven.

P.S. I also love The Land Before Time - the dinosaurs are so cute!!

I had a lot of influence from older brothers and sisters so keep that in mind when I mention some of these (old) movies!
-The Sound of Music
-The Wizard of Oz
-E.T. (for sure!)
-The Whiz
-Grease (loved it!)
-Grease 2 (seriously.)
I seem to have a musical theme going here.

It's nice to watch movies that have some related memories for you, isn't it. (why does that sound poncy?? I think I might have directly translated from Japanese there, omg.)

One of my best memories was going to see E.T. at the drive-in with my brother, who is a lot older than me, and hence could drive while I was in grade 1 - when I actually used to hitch a ride to school on the back of his motorbike, I still can't believe mum let me get on the back of it! The only other movie I remember seeing was a documentary with Albie Mangle (the crocodile hunter who came before Steve Irwin) with my parents and aunt and uncle. Favourite tv-movie of all time growing up though, would have to be Grease. I must have seen it 700times. Do they still show it at least 2 times a year at home? Aaah, those summer nights......
