Miniature horse in the Redlands

Yes it is a miniature horse! Family friends of ours have a large block of land and they keep him as a pet along with three dogs ( 2 of which belong to their son who is currently in Canada so they are playing grandparents) and possibly some chickens (Although didn`t go out the back while i was there the other day)

Over the years they have kept wallabies, a normal horse, a sheep (Gordy!!- who came inside and ran up in down the hallway bumping into things!), geese, lots of dogs, chickens, ducks, turtles, fish and I am sure an assortment of other animals!

Shun has never met them but I am thinking we may take Abbey out there to visit on Sunday- It will be her first time to meet a miniature horse! (Shun`s too!)

  1. Hi Faz the cat- She is about one and a half metres high I guess…maybe less. she is about up to my waist!

  2. Aw, how wonderful. MY daughter is a horse nut. She would love a pony.

  3. I love minis! What a cute picture.

My post is a photo of Hurricane Ike’s damage all the way up in Michigan. Happy WW!

  4. How is Shun with animals?

My DH grew up without seeing anything bigger than a dog IRL and sheep/ cows/ horses/ wallabies/ kangaroos/ pelicans all freaked him out.

  5. How darling is this…. I missed riding my pony…. just lovely…. what a nice picture Lulu… Heather.. you are so funny… P.S. added you to my feeds as well now I can be updated more easily.. as much of a PC nerd I am.. why didn’t i do it much earlier…

  6. Jenn- Surprisngly horses scare me and I have never been a fan but this one is miniature and therefore not nearly as scary as a normal sized horse! Thanks for stopping by.

Life, or something like that- Thank you! I stopped by to look at your picture- what a devestating site.

Heather- I think Shun is ok with animals (but not ok with hights at all) and although a lot of Japanese people seemed to be afraid of birds (my female friends at least- once an exchange student we had when I was younger almost fainted when she saw a pelican) although he doesn`t like goats (See the post about the ekka!)- we have been to the koala park before and he was fine feeding the wallabies, kangaroos and holding the koalas. I think he will find my friends place a little overwhelming but only because they have all these animals at their house (and sometimes in their house!) but hopefully he will be fine. He adores dogs which is good.

GirlJapan- You had a horse? I am slightly scared of horses and don`t ride (rode once in primary school at a camp and the boy on the horse in front of me got flung off)- that said when I have kids I want to take them horse riding so they are not scared like me.

  7. oh how cute!! When I was a kid I had a horse thing (I’m sure all girls do…) though once I actually met a horse in person, I soon lost it!! I bet if i’d had a cute mini one like this one, it would’ve been a different story!!
