Hi Lulu
That's a great tutorial there, how has it worked out?
I sew a lot as you know but even my mother commented just yesterday how amazing it is that I can sew so well now. I can only say practice does indeed make perfect!

I'm one of those moms who sews for other moms!! drop me a line when you and future DH have kids and you need bags for kindergarten!

Hi Lulu, yes the bags for school are supposed to be homemade. Ours are too except, I didn't make them. I buy them online here in Japan. Sort of sneaky I think, but I really can't sew. : (
So some Japanese super crafty mom here in Japan, has made ours. Ha ha ha. Have a good weekend over there. : )

Katie- Thanks darl! I am looking forward to seeing you next week- we can talk sewing amoungst other things (and the fact you need to get yourself a proper blog!)

Girl Japan- My button sewing skills are also quite crap yet I can do better than Shun who I don`t think can even thread a needle...I will get there with my sewing eventually. Then I can teach you next time I visit Nagoya!!!

Jess- My whole life I have wanted to be crafty and it honestly hasn`t really happened for me. I can knit, make jewellery, paper crafts etc but I am not extrodinary at any of those things which is dissapointing for me after all the effort I ahve put in. I am hoping, that one day, it will all just click and I will become one of those super crafty successful people that I long to be!

Gina- What about uwabaki bag for school? Did you sew them? I am under the impression that most yochien mothers etc make there own but please prove me wrong !!! I have always wanted to be able to sew though...and while I had lessons when I was yojnger I have all but forgotten everything! Plus you are an AMAZING cook it seems- so you have that going for you so you don`t need to learn to sew! hehe! Thanks for your comments on the other recent posts too....nice to see you do bbqs every week- I really want to too yet we need house and a yard for that. I will work on Shun!hehe

Sarah- That is good to know. My knitting has definitely got better with time an practise. I have 5 hours of sewing lessons lined up which I hope will help me get started at least. There are lots of projets I want to try...

Jessica- That is a great tutorial- I am going to try again this weekend for sure! I like your motto- I just got fed up and quit...woops! That pouch is really cute, similar to what I was trying to make last weekend. I will give it another go this weekend and if it doesn`t work I will ask my NEW sewing teacher next week. 2 x 2.5 hour lessons, private at her house at $85 for 5 hours. Awesome price, no?

Lulu, I am the queen of blunders/clumsiness/silliness so my motto is "if at first you don't succeed, try and try again!" I also have trouble doing zips and found this tutorial really helpful! Hope it helps you too!! Plus, it tells you how to make a little pouch which is totally cute!

Sewing is one of those skills that gets better over time. Start with a curtain since all the lines are straight and then work up from there. That's what I did at least!

I hear you, I can't sew to save my life Lulu!!! : ) I own a sewing machine and about as far as I can go is sewing on the name tags and labels on my son's school things. And even that took much work and learning for me. : ) I'm not crafty at all. Sniff, sniff. : )

Shoot, I didn't even know what you were talking about with the foot thing. I read that first sentence, and was like "huh? FEET??" So there is someone (much) less crafty than yourself in the blogging world, rest assured.

Well, I love your blog and your writing because you are grounded and real and that is attractive to readers, friends, etc.... oh and by the way, I can not even sew a button nor have the patience for it.. DH (darling hubby) does all the bloody tendering to things which are not big enough to make it to the cleaners...
