I saw The Exorcist at a drive in in Melbourne, we don’t have drive ins in the UK.
Guera– I remember queueing for 3 hours to see Grease, it was and still is EXCELLENT!

Never been to a drive in, however I’ve been to see a movie outside in a park! that was great fun – I think we saw Gone with the wind or some old classic like that. We had a picnic, and relaxed under the stars! I’ve noticed that there are a few other ones planned for this summer so hopefully we can go again!

I went my my mom and brother once or twice when we were back in elemntary school. Now I have absolutely no recollection of what movie we saw thought but i remember thinking how cool it was to be watching the movie in our car hee hee

Now I’m afraid I’d be one of those atmosphere controlled movie theater snobs… but for kids drive ins are really a fun treat!!

I wonder if the ones near the city i grew up are still even open.!

I’ve never been. There was only one drive-in in my town and it showed “adult entertanment” if you know what I mean so….

Your saying that you went to see Mrs. Doubtfire with your parents really makes me feel old. I was already living in Japan and all that when that movie came out. Sigh! LOL!

There aren’t many drive-ins left in the States, either. I think I have a vague memory of going with my mom once, but I’m not sure. These days, most people prefer the climate-controlled comfort of a proper movie theater and the fantastic sound quality that goes with it – a huge improvement over those little speakers at the drive-in!

Oh memories! A big group of us girls used to go to the drive in movies at 16/17 down at Yatala and then onto the Gold Coast afterwards. It was quite fun, but it isn’t the most comfortable thing! (A Hyundai Charade full of five girls!!!)

I think the whole “drive in, people pile-up” must be a common factor of our father’s time as my Dad used to talk about how they would hide 5 to 10 people in the boot. Tsk tsk – such rebels! We saw Twister at the Capalaba drive in as a family and afterwards, Sgt Bilko (which we promptly “drove-out” away from!)

I think it’s a great idea to take Shun to the drive-in. Nostalgia is always fun to indulge in!

We had two in Canberra – Not sure if one of them is still there, but the other one was turned into a caravan park )

We went once, and saw ‘Robin Hood – Prince of thieves’ and ‘Mermaids’.
I don’t remember a lot of it, except for falling asleep through most of Mermaids!

I’ve never been to a drive-in theater. But when I was younger there were several in the area where I grew up and some of my friends used to go regularly with their families. I always thought it sounded like a fun idea. I suspect it’s more fun as a child, but I could be wrong…Nowadays I like super comfort when I’m watching movies and don’t think I can get that in my car – LOL.
