Macro Monday 5…
March 31 2008, Inokashira Koen, Olympus 830
Another sakura macro monday. I wanted to get some photos up from my new camera but I don`t think I will have the time. Next week maybe? I have got a great one still on the camera that I want to post…
It just so happens though that a lot of the macro photos I do have are of sakura or other flowers (mainly sakura)- so there might be a few more yet. Last week it was pink sakura (or it might of been ume?) and this week it is the more traditional white version.
During sakura season last year in Japan I took a walk through the park after work to try and get a couple of photos. Inokashira Koen is a favourite park of mine in Tokyo- for a long while I always lived quite close to it. First as a student and then when I returned to Japan & Shun & I shared our first, extremely small apartment about a five minute walk from the park.
I will definitely miss sakura season in Japan this year
- especially with my new camera!

Hello gorgeous, and happy new year! And what a year it will be for you!!
Just caught up on all your posts, sounds like you’ve had an amazing time lately, and I’m very jealous of the new camera!!!
I’ve been reading so much about Japan lately, and really want to get there at some point! But TS and I think our next trip – apart from Australia of course – might be Mexico!! We rewatched Frida the other night and I am just filled with longing!
I think I’ll leave Japan until you and Shun are back there, then you guys can show me around, local style!!
Will send you an email soon! Take care xx Phil
Hey Phil, nice to hear from you! This year is set to be a very busy one!!! But exciting!
I am in love with my camera, in the same way I was in love with my computer this time last year (still am!) I develop crushes on my electronic devices!
What sorts of things have you been reading? I could recommend some good NF & F books if you want. A lot of the books i read in the last year were based in Japan.
Mexico would be lovely! I have never been but it always looks so amazing. Peru is another place in South America I would love to get to one day.
You should definitely come to Japan sometime soon- we will be back from end of May but won`t have our own place until probably late July or early August. We have to apartment hunt but to save on rent for a couple of months we will (reluctantly on my part) stay with the in-laws.
Talk to you soon!
This is a gorgeous snap Lulu.. and I see you are putting your CS3 skills to work.. Fab, fab!
What a nice theme
Yes, please do recommend some books – I’ve read Peter Carey’s “Wrong About Japan”, and also really got into Haruki Marukami late last year, he rocks!!
