Thanks Gina for the support and encouragement (and all of your other comments on the posts above!).

I found in Japan I was a super bad night time snacker too. Now at night, if I am hungry I try to eat cruskits (low fat crackers?) with vegimite as a snack (1/2 weight watchers point for two) or an apple. But mainly, I will try to drink water in case i may be dehydrated not hungry.

Your recent walking and pedometer updates with your steps are inspiring. I need to be better. Last week I was good doing 10,000 almost every day & about 18,000 another day (A big day of shopping, plus some walking with the dog and hooping!)- so back into it tomorrow. MUST DO LONG WALK!

Good luck with getting in shape for youself also!

I think my one bad thing is I am a night time snacker. That is my downfall for sure. Sigh. : )

Anyway just wanted to say good luck with it. : )

We're similar!
I'd like to lose 7kg by my birthday (2.5 months!), but would be happy if I lost 5.
Then I'd like to keep slim :o)

My biggest issue is serving size... and BREAD! And not enough fruit and veg...
But I started again today and had a good day :o)
So we'll see how it goes ;o)

You have the right amount of time to do it right - GO LULU!!

I really suck at writing comments early these days!! I always read your blog entry and then think oh I will comment a little later and then always seem to forget!

Christmas is always a difficult time to keep up with eating plans etc, but now that you are back on track again I am sure the 5kgs you want to lose will drop off!! You really seem to have the motivation and right attitude for losing weight that I have confidence it will happen!!

Your right about Japanese bread though - that's why I have been bugging Naoki for ages to get me a bread maker!! That's what I got for Christmas this year so from tomorrow I can take a healthy salad sandwich or something to work for lunch. When you guys get back if you dont have one already I really suggest getting one - making bread is so easy and it's delicious!!

Mandy- I just read your current post and seems we have similar goals! I think it is good to get it all out there so you can see where you are at. I am sure you will succeed in losing the weight you want. Simlilar to me it seems you want to lose about 10kg by May. I usually find the first few come off fairly easy and then it gets harder but I am determined!!!!

Heather- I am trying to trick myself into not wanting chocolate at the moment- I am sipping my water thinking "wish it was chocolate" but I hopefully will not cave...I am in love with weight watchers brownies at the moment though.

I drink a lot more when I am in Japan, eat the crappy white bread that tastes like sugar and tend to eat out a lot more which is why my weight shoots up. That and lack of any kind of exercise routine.

The plan when I return to Japan is to not buy cheese (except maybe philly), make my own bread and drink only wine if I drink (and no cocktails) and hopefully I will be able to maintain it. God I hope so.
Best of luck

Tigermama- It is bad but I kind of wish I would get a stomach bug so that I could have a bit of a kick start. I could definitely exercise more that I do, even now. So I might have to start doing a bit more if I want to lose a kilo a week or so.

Thanks for the encouragement.

Katy- hehe, I guess you will have to wait for the bun to arrive before embarking on anything to strenuous. I wish I could get away with eating like a pregnant horse. But you are correct in that you will be done with the kids and I will just be starting so I have quite a few "fat" years so to speak ahead of me. I want to be fit for when we start trying for kids though and have a fairly good exercise routine (low-impact walking is cheap!)

Hopefully the wedding will keep me motivated. I was a runner when I was younger (like really young, under 14) but I was a sprinter and could never get into long distance. Maybe I need to start trying.

Thanks for the ganbare message!

We have very similar goals - obviously mine are completely out the window at the moment and for the next five months at least I can get away with eating like a pregnant horse. But, thats the end of the kids after that and then hopefully I can focus. By that time you will probably be pregnant... :)

I would love to be 63kg but the last time I got that low I was training for duathlons and 50km marathons and other crazy shite. 2010 perhaps...

Good Luck. The wedding is a huge motivation so no worries if that keeps you focussing and going hard for a few months. Plenty of time for healthy eating and walking ;) I used to cheat when I wrote down food too and to date the thing that I find works for me most is getting out and running - what with the lack of personal trainers and pillates classes in Kunimi.

Good Luck. It sounds like you are pretty dedicated though and having the WW meetings and the wedding will help with motivation. Ganbare.

You are doing everything right AND for the right reasons so I`m sure you will be successful! I have to laugh because your numbers are exactly the same as mine. I weighed about 77kg back in March and have lost 9kg to this day. Unfortunately half of my lost weight was not done the healthy way (I got sick) but still...it`s nice to be near to my goal. Right now I am just focussing on trying to stay healthy and get strong enough to keep up with my kids. :)

Keep on walking and writing down what you eat. Both of those things are great habits to keep the weight off!

Oh man.

I am reading your blog while eating my way through the Christmas chocolate... talk about depressing as I have very similar goals (well not the wedding but... ;>), numbers and action plan... only I'm sitting here eating chocolate.

Tomorrow's a new day!

Interesting though, I find it easier to be healthy in Japan... All the small portions, I don't like white rice, they can't make good cheese to save themselves, the cheesecake sucks...

Good luck and be strong!

What a great post! You sound like you've completely refocused after a small blip and are back on track. 9kgs is completely doable! But as you said, it's not about looking a certain way for one day, it's about feeling the best you can on that day, but most importantly every other one!

Congrats on all the exercise and on the tracking as well! It's such a rude shock how fast weight can come on, but hopefully that means it shouldn't take too much to budge it with a few habitual healthy habits!

You've inspired me to a goal setting blog!

Thanks for your comment as well...I love hearing from you about everything that's going on! xxxxx
