Impulse buyer…

I am an impulse shopper (and an impulse eater but that is a different story)

Today I bought something crazy. I have no idea what I was thinking.

I went into the health food shop and bought a lemon detox diet starter kit (google it- you will find a lot of interesting stuff some good some bad)

I am getting close to the weight I want to be and I have gone about it a fairly healthy way through a healthy diet and exercise. I just feel like I needed a little kick in the right direction to quick start the loss of the last five kilos I want to lose.

I did have a look online last night at it but I looked at the main Australian site which of course was very comlimentary with only good comments about the product. Once I got home though I thought about it a bit more and did a bit more research and decided it wasn`t for me. With my history of migraines and other health issues I really do not know what I was thinking…

I want to do some kind of detox but no solid food at all for 7 days is not the way to go about it. It is on my 101 things list and I know I have to start thinking about when I will do it and what sort of detox I will do but I am not really sure where to start so any suggestions would be welcome.

Does anyone want to buy the starter kit from me? I will not use it…I know that. It is unopened (except I read the phamlet inside the box but none of the other parts are open). It was not cheap but I will sell it for half price ($50)…any offers? I can not believe I spent $100 on something I will NEVER use. GAH!

I hate being an impulse buyer…

It’s the sort of thing I’d be interested in because I am lame like that – but it has been pollen in it!!

Smart move (not for buying it, but deciding against it). I tried one of those once… I lasted a day, I woke up the next morning thinking I was dying I was so hungry. XD (And that was back in the day when I didn’t even really eat much in the course of a regular day!)

My parents do alot of those cleanses though..the kind where you can eat only a strict diet…they always say how amazing and healthy they feel after so don’t give up! Just find one that suits you better =)

Why so keen to detox, Lulu? I’ve read that there’s absolutely zero evidence to support that detox products do anything at all, and their claims are dubious. I think it’s a wise decision not to use it, it doesn’t sound to me like it would have done you a lot of good.

As for what to do with it — have you checked Ebay to see what similar items people are selling on there, and if they sell? You’d be almost certain to find a good home for it on there. Or there’s always placing an ad in a local newspaper… Hope you find someone who wants it without too much fuss.

Incidentally, I read this, today it made me think of you. Would it be better to be impulsive than to be unable to make a decision?

    Hi Lulu,

I will buy it from you…I need a jolt to my diet( I am a sucker too.)
I have never written here before, but have been reading/lurking for a while as I lived in Japan for a while too and your blog brings back memories :-)
I gather you live somewhere in the Redlands…I work over there and could arrange to pick it up/meet somewhere monday if that suits. I will email you my mobile as I won’t be home over the weekend.
    cheers
    Suzy

Well thank goodness your impulse did not include the other detoxing enemas during lunch time, but if you want to shed some extra, dot it the natural way and drink a bottle of prune juice.. you’ll feel less bloated for sure = ) hehe

But do it on a weekend…. at time where you have NOWHERE to go. Joking…

Hey hun….oh I totally know about the impulse buying thing. (Mum once gave me $20 for the St Luke’s School fete and I spent the entire thing before it even started at 9am on novelty miniature teddy bears!).

I have been reading French Women for All Seasons by Mireille Guiliano and I think it’s a fabulous book! Some awesome recipes in there and she recommends having a “leek broth” Detox Weekend every once in a while to re-align the system. I can see the logic behind a detox but at the same time, my willpower is quite non-existent so would probably backfire!!

I think the best way to go about it is to make up a big vegetable broth and just have the consomme part any time during the day when you are hungry, then eat the vegetables and a small amount of lean meat for the main meal. Don’t spend the day doing anything active – get a massage if possible, give yourself a dry body brush – a good way of getting rid of all the toxins.

I don’t think there is anything inherently wrong with fasting, but I would be dubious of the claims of any product costing that much money over good ole fashioned abstinence and broth!!!

I did once go mental at the health food store and bought all sorts of psyllium husk, etc, etc to have it sit gathering dust at the back of the cupboard! I share your pain! xoxoxox

My best friend did this, I believe it was the Master Cleanse. It was solely for detox purposes. He loved it and felt amazing after. I am definetely going to try it, not for weight loss but for the detoxing. Good luck!
