Two months out…
It is now less than two months until Shun & I marry. We have been engaged for over a year now already and I can not believe how fast the time has gone by. Just two months to go until we tie the knot and less than three months now until we return to Japan…
I met Shun when I was 19- I went to Japan on exchange and the last thing on my mind and the last thing I ever thought would happen would be meeting the man I would marry while there. I had never ever thought I would meet someone while I was still that young…but it happened and I am forever grateful.
I would even go as far to say that I have loved Shun since the night I met him. I left Japan less than six weeks later and the majority of our first year together was spent apart…We made it work though and I am so glad we did. I can`t imagine my life without Shun in it.
Did I think when I was 18 that this is how my life would pan out? Definitely not! Am I happy it panned out this way? Definitely…I wouldn`t have it any other way now.
I can not wait to become “Mrs Maru****” and become Shun`s wife and start our life together as a married couple. There are so many exciting adventures ahead of us and I am sure there will be many laughs & happy times and tears and sad times – but we will have each other and we will work through it- we have come through so much already. We will make it work no matter what comes our way because ultimately our love is strong and nothing can break that.
I love you baby!
How did you meet your partner? Was it unexpected?

Two months till your wedding, wow, how exciting! There is an add on tv in Japan for the wedding magazine zexy that says between getting engaged and getting married is the most exciting time for a couple! Enjoy these last two months of planning for your special day!
For Mr. Nemo and I it was love at first sight too. I just knew that he was the man I would spend the rest of my life with!
SQUEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
I can’t believe it is so close – I remember, I was in the airport in Brisbane after a Rinpoche meeting when I found out on the internet in the terminal, I couldn’t wait to get back to Canberra to tell The Hun!
I can not wait to keep following this journey with you Lulu
)
My story>? I’m a stalker. And in a bizarre twist of fate, I was at lunch with my friend who was The Hun’s high school gf (basically someone to hold hands with) and who should sit down at the table next to us, but The Hun’s other ex?! It was like a vortex of his love ;o)
That’s a great pic! (heart mark)
I worked in the same office as hub, passed his wife in the halls and played with his two kids at the kindy on my English visits. Thought nothing of him – except that he was a nice bloke. Three years later and I leave JET and he leaves his wife – still nothing until a year later. I would never had thought things would have turned out like this, but something just seemed to work and here we are – nearly five years and nearly three kids later!!
Good luck for the next two months. Exciting adventures ahead…
Very classy ans sweet pic.?That’s a sweet story how you met =) So happy for you two~~
We met at a friend’s house party in Canada. I had a bf of 3 years at the time, that I was fairly sure I’d end up with. Had lunch with Tetsu and chose him, the guy I didn’t even know yet, over my longtime bf… not sure why, gut feeling? Same with him, we didn’t really like anything about eachother at the time… but I’m happy we followed our gut instinct =) Like he always says “It’s faaaaaaaaaaaate! Woo!” lol
Great picture- you guys have a really chameleon quality about you- a new look every picture!
Me and K- slow burn. I knew him from day 1 in the village and found him an (albeit unintentionally) condescending, totally unappreciated big brother type. Somehow that became this…
Cute pic
Rish and I went to school together, so he slowly worked away at me until I was his :p
Awwww, love the pic!!! You both look gorgeous!
Well, like you, I met Tom at the most unexpected time in my life…about 4 weeks out from backpacking around Europe and moving to London. I still can remember the moment I saw him at the backpacker’s bar where we met. There was just something about his smile that was so familiar and warm, I just had to speak to him. We ended up chatting for 4 hours that night and then the next night and then the next night too. He left Brisbane on the Monday, made it as far as Airlie Beach and turned the car around to come back to Brisbane to spend two and a half weeks with me before I left! I think we decided about halfway through his trip around Aus and my trip through Eastern Europe that it would be so cool for us to live together in London. And here we are…over a year and half later and I can honestly say, each day gets better and better!
Oh and you had full experience of lovesick puppy me when I visited you in Tokyo!!!!
Life is strange isn’t it…but somehow you just KNOW when you meet that special, special one.
Whoo Hoo.. Only two more months to go!!!! I met my husband at Stanford, he asked me for directions.
Awww, you two are so sweet.
I met my husband in a bar, it was both our birthdays. My boyfriend left early and he drove my friend and I home. I thought he was totally dorky. At midnight the bar owner gave me a bottle of champagne (because I was a 3-times a week regular) and he complained bitterly about not getting anything. If you told me then how happy he’d make me as a wife I would have laughed my ass off!
It’s so exciting how close you are! I’m excited for photos of all the finals plans and the wedding itself!
That is such a cute picture! You guys make such an attractive couple.
My husband and I were introduced through a good friend, a guy I had actually been on again off again with for a couple of years. The friend was a drummer and one night my girlfriend and I went to hear him play at a local bar, and my future-husband was the vocalist. I realized later that I’d actually met him once two years earlier, but our paths had never crossed again until that night. Later on we moved on, my friends and I, to our local expat bar, and I asked my drummer buddy if the vocalist would be coming by. My friend took the clue and called him out with some not so subtle hinting. We ended up chatting for hours. The next day pretty much the same thing happened, but I let him give me a ride home on his moped (I know, right?) I was set to go to Laos pretty much the next day after that, and I thought about him the whole time I was there –even brought him back a t-shirt. When I got back from Laos I called him right away and we were together from that point on!
Thanks everyone and thanks for sharing how you met up with your partners.
It is funny some of you commented on the photo- it is really old. Shun was sitting beside me just before and said ” That is from Aneki`s wedding 1 and a half years ago” and I corrected him and said ” 2 and a half years ago you mean” and he did not believe me. Alas he has a lot to learn still because everyone knows females are always right!
It was taken October 2006 at Shun`s brothers wedding! Shun was a bit chubbier then- it was during his stopped smoking stage- I wish he hadn`t started smoking again and lost all the weight!! I am working on him again though! hehe- We have a deal going!
Darn I’m always commenting late on your posts!
Everyone’s already commented and you’ve already done a “group reply-back” to them. >:/
hehe Laura, I just got your comment!!!
I read blogs through a reader (google reader) which I check everyday so I know who has updated- I think a lot of these bloggers might do the same or something similar which is why they get to the posts quickly!
Don`t worry- I love comments all the same!!!!
Hi Lulu
I’ve been a lurker and enjoy reading your blog – i love your piccies too! The macro monday’s as well as you & Shun.
I live in Syd and met my husband at a bar playing pool ::) He was on a working holiday.
Enjoy the lead up to your wedding!
Its lovely when these things work out that way, its amazing how much a language option changed your whole life! I met Roy at school, then one night very drunken at a party he was talking about why him and Cat hadn’t worked out (they’d been broken up about 8 or 9 months) and realised it was because they didn’t have so much in common they were just good friends not very suited as boyfriend and girlfriend – we started to realise that we did have chemistry! A while after that we started dating and after a break up of six months, a separation of 8 months long distance scotland to korea, moving in together, 5 months of living apart again in England and scotland then finally getting a place together in Glasgow, we’re the happiest couple I know! (with maybe the exception of you guys lol!) We started going out when I was 19, nearly 20 (I’m 26 now) and there were some really hard times but we made it through and in our case it was definitely worth it. Distance and growing up with someone are probably the biggest tests of a relationship and to make it through those sets you with strong foundations for your marriage and life together. I think Roy and I are a while off marriage yet, I think when its right it’ll just feel right and thats when you do it, you guys are lucky to be ready now as you will have so many years ahead.
Darling, what a gorgeous post! You’re an adorable couple, and how exciting that the wedding is coming up so soon!
My story….TS and I met purely by chance on the first day of September in 2007, when I had only been in London for about six weeks. It was at a party at a bar in Notting Hill, which I was about to leave and he had just arrived at, so another five minutes either side and we would have missed each other! It was also very interesting because he had only come to the party to drop his sister off, and when he heard he had to pay £10 to get into the bar he wasn’t interested, said goodnight to his sister and walked off! He was almost back at his car (a good 10 minute walk away) when he heard someone running behind him. It was the bouncer, who said that he’d let him for free. He’d run after him all that way, to let him in for free!! Weird, huh?!
So anyway, I was introduced to him just as I was about to leave, but then we started talking and I knew within a few minutes I wasn’t going anywhere! I remember us just having the most amazing, fascinating conversation, where it was like everything and everyone else in the room was blurred or on mute, and all I could see and hear was him. Before I knew it, it was nearly 1am and I had no idea how to get home, as the trains were now finished for the night! He offered to give me a lift home, and so we drove through London and he showed me parts that I hadn’t seen before at night, like Sloane Square and the Chelsea Bridge, and finally we ended up back at my house in Clapham – after nearly two hours (we got a bit lost! I had never driven there before). I wished I could have stayed out with him all night, I didn’t want the conversation to end! But we swapped numbers and said we should catch up sometime, I had no idea that anything would come of it…..but the next day he texted me, and we sent each other bits of our writing, and talked nearly every day until we finally met up again on the following Saturday for dinner….and yes, basically since then, we have barely left each other’s side! It was so unexpected, as I had finally decided to enjoy being single and concentrate on me, but looking back, I think the timing was perfect.
Like you, as crazy as this sounds, I think I’ve loved him from that very first night.
I love that picture too!!!
My husband and I met when we were in university together. We were both taking the same class. : )
