dotties…

  • Nothing like a few dot points to update the blog.
  • I finish work in less than 2.5 weeks and I am stoked about it- I will not work for at least 8 weeks I imagine, because it will take a couple weeks after I get back to Japan to find work I am sure- if not longer. Still trying to figure out what to do with my life. I wish I could write a book and have been thinking about that a lot lately, just a shame I do not have the talent, creative ideas or the discipline a good writer needs!
  • The sakura are blooming in Japan at the moment and I am not there…the first sakura season I have missed in three years and only the second I have missed in five years. Oh well, just a year until it comes around again although I do wish I was there, enjoying it now, with my friends.
  • Since Dad is in hospital Shun has not been working and instead has spent the last couple of weeks pulling apart my brother`s old computer and my Dad`s computer that never got used (because he didn`t know where the on button was, no joke) so our living room floor is littered with computer pieces, keyboards, cords, screws and freaky looking green and black hard drive things…I am scared I will walk through there one night and step on it.
  • I am using twitter…..I know, I know, yet another craze sweeping the internet right now that will just keep me on my computer more which is not what I need at all. But hey, if you are on there look me up, I am “sakuralulu”
  • Just over five weeks til the wedding and I do not have a completed wedding dress but luckily this is not stressing me out since I have an awesome dress maker- she is a bit ditzy but fantastic all the same. I am stressing however about the fact that Shun`s unversity friends have not yet booked their flights and one of them is in the wedding party yet they all say they are coming and RSVP was last Friday. I really don`t think Japanese people understand the concept of RSVPing much….I am sure I will have a lot more things to stress about in the upcoming weeks!!! If you see me pulling my hair out, that will be why.
  • Had lunch with a friend yesterday (Hi Katie!) and it will probably be the last time we see each other before I head back to Japan….the goodbyes have started. I hate that. We had a lovely lunch though…we both work in the public service so long lunches are an option…hehe! We had yummy Korean food and chatted about all the happenings in our lives of late.
  • Since it is the first of April I have to do another 101 things in 1001 days update- I don`t think I managed to cross anything off except a month or so off a couple of my ongoing tasks. It is a year today since I started the challenge!!! One thing that is failing miserably on my list that I will have to start over is our budget….with wedding expences and other unforseen expences and my crap money handling skills we have not managed to save what we had planned to save. This is slightly worrying (ok more than slightly worrying but I am trying not to panic) because the economy sucks right now and I had this year to try and save up and I could barely manage a couple of grand…We will re-write our budget once we are back in Japan and start over…this means my six months sticking to a budget task will also start over because I did not manage to stick it out :(
  • I am reading a lovely book right not by an Australian author, Dianne Blacklock (Yes Mandy, Blacklock! haha)- I have read one of her books before but a long time ago. I can just really relate to the way she writes and it makes me not want to finish her book….especially because it will leave me with only one of her books that i have not yet read…
  • The packing will begin soon- we have a lot of stuff to ship back. Not looking forward to it and will probably continue to avoid it until I finish work.
  • Our trip the country is happening- Shun & I are going up the coast this weekend and on Sunday we will stop at Maleny for a bit of “country life”. I have never been before so am excited…
  • Well now that was just a giant big brain dump now wasn`t it…

Don’t be too hard on yourself for not saving as much as you wanted to! Weddings and moving overseas are very expensive!

Thanks for the “Hi Katie” :) I feel special! Thanks again for all the awesome books! I decided to read “The next thing on my list” first! so far so good! In fact i’m off to bed to read it now! Good night!

Five weeks lulu, that’s nothing!! Wahoo. Double that and we’ll have the bunster. Holy shit.

Budget smudget. Plenty of time for that after the wedding, after the honeymoon and after the move. In fact really no point starting one properly until you have found your new job over here anyway :)

Good luck to Shun trying to get all those pieces back in the right place! Wish I had a man that handy with electronics. Then maybe I wouldn’t be stuck with the slowest internet connection in the most technologically advanced nation on the planet.

Wow, Lulu, sounds like you have a lot going on right now. Hope all the planning, wedding, packing, and moving go well. I am so glad you guys are going to Maleny. It is such a beautiful area. I was going to suggest it when you asked for ideas a couple of weeks ago. There are so many cute crafty shops and yummy country treats to eat! I am sure you and Shun will love it! Take lots of pics for us!

Kate- you deserved the mention!!! Glad you liked the books and I look forward to hearing how they go and which you like best.

Gaijinwife- 10 weeks til bunster? OMG! That is crazy. lol, I remember when you were announcing it. Budgets kind of suck and I wish we didn`t need one but we so desperately do!

I know five weeks til wedding- hardly nothing. That time will fly by, then i think it is 8 weeks til we leave Australia. I will be back in Japan before bunster probably!

I have to look for a job in Japan, I am not exactly motivated though. Will look for something part-time and do private teaching I think- better money, more flexibility etc etc. We would like to start a famliy sometime in the near future too! SO figure part-time is best for now- but we will see.

Nooh- so many things happening lately!!! Everything is going ok, just busy busy busy- need to start writing lists!

I am very excited about Maleny and I will be sure to take lots of photos!

I second katie’s sentiment that you shouldn’t be too hard on yourself about the 101 things, you have a lot on your mind and on your plate at the moment — that counts for the budget, too. These things are fine when circumstances are placid and normal.

Am off to find you on Twitter now!

Boy you’ve got your hands full. So exciting that your wedding is so close now!

I love reading your dot point blog entries – they always give me a around about way what’s happening in your life!!

Like the others have said I wouldn’t worry too much about your 101 things list this time around – you have so much going in in your life at the moment that I don’t think anybody (and you shouldn’t either) would expect you to be doing that as well.

I hope you enjoy your trip to Maleny! I can’t wait to see pictures!

5 more weeks you are going to be a married woman!!! How exciting!! Oh btw I have been meaning to ask you, what is the dress code for your wedding? I need to buy a dress you see, and Naoki needs to know if he needs to bring his whole suit or just a nice pair of pants and a long sleeved shirt?!!? Please let me know!

Man, I bet you are totally psyched about the wedding coming up, moving back to J-land, totally cool! Can’t wait to hear all about your wedding… (it will be in AU?)

    Write the book!

I love your writing. I’ll put in now for an advanced copy.

With all the budget busting events you have going on right now cut yourself some slack, live it up then come back here and do the whole kakeibo keeping housewife chasing down 2 yen savings on eggs thing. ;P

*Can’t wait* to see your dress!
