Oh I love this question.

I miss the food, I miss my family the most.

But other stuff, I miss Target. Pushing that great big red cart throughout the store. LOL, cool finds to be had in there. I think you guys have that store too, right? : )

I miss English conversation in general like with the grocery store lady, just the “how are you today” type stuff. Talking with the neighbors.

I think they are the same… I can’t imagine trying to alter the already perfect Skittle.

The limos back home were often the Hummer ones. I’ve seen a few H2s here and always wonder why in the heck someone would do that! We Americans are just plain stuck on bigger is better.

We fly in on May 7th. I’m mapping out our itinerary now! Cannot wait!

When I was living in Utah I missed little things, like not being stared at when I talked, and people being able to understand what I was saying. I missed the NHS, however imperfect it is, being able to see a doctor or go to the hospital and not pay for the privilege. I missed sausages: just normal, English sausages. And homely things, like red postboxes. And of course at the time I missed being able to drink, but that wouldn’t be the case now. Strangely, I missed rain, too. It didn’t rain a lot in Utah.

No, No don’t domesticate yourself darling, I defy domestication but I hang the clothes to reduce the sneezing (the old dryer I had took two hours to dry a load of clothes) but got so used to it I never use the new one.

Domestication is a dirty word for me… lol “wink”

Phil, Girl Japan- Thanks for coming back to comment again- P, Must look out for that wine. My favs at the moment are from NZ! GJ- I am so lazy and if I put the clothes out I tend to forget to bring them in- they do not smell so great after three days. haha- i need to get more domisticated!

Deidre- haha, at least Melbourne kind of has seasons- not like Brisbane! haha, not something I will miss about Brisbane although the weather is usually pretty good.

I have never tried rootbeer- if I ever get to America I promise to give it ago!

Karen- Sweets are things I miss from here, hence the cadbury chocolate. Allens lollies are another! You can get skittles in Australia- are they not the same as the ones in America?

Wine tours with friends in stretch limos- wow! haha- don`t think I have ever seen a limo in Japan?

What date do you fly in? I might be up that way at the same time- we leave for our honeymoon in 3 weeks!!

I’m so with you all on the shopping… in my size!! And normal washer and dryers!! Of course, family and friends are on top of the list of things I miss… or so I tell them. I also miss Sundays spent in bars watching football while drinking beer and eating hot wings. I miss seeing the monuments in DC at night from across the Potomac while driving down the parkway. I miss Twizzlers, Skittles and over American sweets so easily found at every convenience store. I miss wine tours with friends in stretch limos. But I love the opportunity to be overseas!

We head to Australia in a few short weeks! We’ll be crossing paths! Happy upcoming wedding to you!

Besides family and friends there are very few things I miss about the US (I live in Melbourne now)…
but here is what comes to mind off the top of my head:

Rootbeer (and subsequently the Rootbeer float)
The Red Sox – so sad, i actually miss baseball season!
the way the trees turn colour in autumn in New England.

There is gelato here, but not on every corner like in Melbourne – and the best ones tend to be miles away from my flat (but that’s probably a good thing!)…like Tom said to me once, icecream shops can’t really operate 12 months of the year here!!!

Hence, cake is my vice here, rather than icecream ;P

Mad Fish is a wine, produced in WA. My favourite!

LuLu… the things we do for love sometimes! P.S. on the Washer Dryer front… I just wanted to mention the combo front loaders have worked the best at keeping lint, etc at bay, but I tend to hang my clothes (I love the fresh air going through my hair-although I frowned upon it years ago), I honestly rarely use my dryer = )

Hi Phil, witchery and sportsgirl are two of my favourite shops too!!! I am pretty sure that the coffee in Japan sucks more than England- it is really hard to get good coffee. But I actually grew accustomed to it sadly! Melbourne has such a great cafe culture though and I totally agree that the coffee is better down there- it is all those Europeans!

There is not gelato in the UK? Really? Wow!

What is madfish? Obviously some kind of drink? I have never heard of it!!!
