101 things update for May 2009…

Well this is long overdue considering it is the 11 June today. (By the way, happy birthday mum!)- before I get started though I just want to say I had a lovely day today with no morning sickness AND yesterday Shun spoke to the insurance boss at his work and I should have health insurance by next Wednesday. Shun eventually got fed up (especially after spending 3 hours at the Nakano city hall) and went to speak to the “big boss” (His words not mine) and the “big boss” said he would make sure the paperwork would be sent off immediately. I will believe it when I see my actual little cardboard insurance card but I think I am well on the way to having health insurance (I did enquire at the town hall here about going on my own insurance and they suggested I wait it out and come next week if I still didn`t have it- they were really lovely)

Okay, so a bit over a year ago now I started a list of 101 things I wanted to complete in 1001 days and each month I do a bit of an update so that I know (and anyone reading knows) how I am going…

May was a busy month for crossing things off!

28. Get married

Well we did that! Shun & I tied the knot on May 9th 2009 after 4.5 years together!  I have said it before, but it really was a beautiful day!

33. Maintain the weight loss for six months (4/6)

Okay well in April, it was my 3rd month maintaining the 10kg+ that I lost and I managed to still stay under the 74kg mark for May. Although have creeped up this month already (Half a kilo over :-(   ). Obviously being pregnant is not going to make maintaining the weight loss easy so I kind of have to forfeit this for now. However, after bub comes, and I get back to 74kg or less (I hope) I will begin the six months maintenance again. So this one is not going to be crossed off anytime soon…

36. Get pregnant

Okay, technically this happened in March, but I am crossing it off in my May post since obviously I have only recently announced this. But Yay! We are expecting a baby in December!

63. Visit a city I have not been to before (In Australia)

I am not sure if “Hamilton Island” is considered a city. But I guess the Whitsunday`s kind of is and we went there for our honeymoon!  This was my last thing to cross of from my “while in Australia” section of my list so that was lucky!!! I haven`t done a proper post about our honeymoon yet but we had a great time although it was a little short. I got a bit sick near the end (more morning sickness) but we enjoyed lazing around and snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef!

73. Meet at least five other bloggers in real life

I was up to 4 for this one! And then on the last day of May I met Khea when Khea, Nay, Sarah & I went to Ueno park for what was going to be a picnic but turned into a lunch instead! It was great to finally meet Khea after getting to know each other on FB and through blogging. Her & I are catching up again next week for coffee in Shinjuku and it is nice to have made a friend that is fairly close to me!

83. Save enough money in Australia to return to Japan and start up life again here

Well, Shun & I have mangaed to do this through what we saved in Australia (through me working, and my tax return), what Shun had saved in Japan and our wedding money we are pretty set to be able to start our life up here again. We have more than enough to pay the down payments on a new apartment to rent, buy some new furniture if needed (we had a lot of stuff in storage here though already), pay all our hospital costs for baby and enough left over to still have some savings and an emergency fund for a flight back to Australia in case I need to get back there quickly for my family. I had my doubts about this one as I am terrible at saving and Shun wasn`t working much in Australia but it all worked out well!!!

So five things fully crossed off for the month of May and a couple still in progress (study, blog updates for this list etc) and one put on the back burner (weight loss maintenance ). Will update my list connected to my blog now!

  1. Wow, they are some pretty big ones to cross off the list, well done! being preggers will probably slow you down with the rest of them a bit but I’m sure you can do it, ??????

  2. Wow, i only posted this like 3 minutes ago- you are fast to comment Corrine! I am hoping to be able to cross a few more off before bub is born but I better get organized! Luckily, so far, I seem to have powered through so I have more than half the time left but way less than half the things left to do. If that makes sense!

Thanks for the praise and well wishes!

  3. Nay

You are doing really well on your list!! It’s funny I kind of forget about my list until you post about yours!! Then I start thinking about what I have done since my last update and unfortunately lately I haven’t really been getting around to too much at all.

You are a very motivated person though so I know that I don’t need to say you will be able to cross a lot more stuff off before the bub is born, because it is inevitable that you will :)

  4. It is great that you are managing to cross so many things off your list. Am thinking I need to seriously think about making one of my own but I honestly can’t think of 101 things I need/want to do. I must be getting old! LOL! ;-)

  5. Nay- Haha, well I expect an update from you soon!!! Thanks for the well wishes! I hope I can cross at least a couple more things off!

Midori- I didn`t think I would be able to come up with things either but once I started it was easy!!! I am sure you could do it if you started to write one- the good thing is, you have Joey so you can add milestones you want him to reach to your list too and help him with them!!! Oh and I expect ” meet Lulu” to be on your list!

  6. Yay i enjoy your list posts!!!
I will someday… get around to doing something like this… maybe :P
I think perhaps I will just live vicariously through you!

Hey its June which means 6 months til baby time – have fun it goes by quick (Except for the last 2 months apparently.. grr…)

  7. Have you checked out NoPayTenants.com?

  8. That’s fantastic you’re so dedicated to your list! I’m glad I could help you cross something off it~
I reeeeaaallly wanna do this sometime, but I always get a few things written down and decide against it =( It’ll happen oneday.

I think you’ve already crossed off some really big things this time, so keep at it!!

  9. Wow, well done. I haven’t started on my list yet but it only has one item: make list… ;P I did commit to making a dish I haven’t made before every day this month though which is a huge challenge but actually quite fun.

    Have a great weekend!

  10. Sara- Oh yes, the last two months- I have already found now if feels weird to sleep on my stomach so I am not sleeping well since that is how I like to sleep. I need to find a new position- I think I need one of those long body pillow- I tried using Shun but he said “atsui”. So there goes that idea.

I know you like my list posts- you are always reminding me when I have to update :P

    Missy- Guessing that is spam.

Khea- Thanks girl! I am having fun with my list still which is good- Each month i try to pick one thing out to work on if I don`t already know that at least one or two things will be crossed off. You should definitely make one, it is fun!

Heather- That is a pretty big challenge though- to make something different everyday this month- I hope you post your recipes!!! Good luck with your challenge for June!

  11. It sounds like an extremely productive month! I’ve been slacking on my 101 in 1001, so you’ve inspired me to get my act together!

  12. Like the rest, I am always impressed with this list. I am such a procrastinator I’m sure I’d end up crossing very little off my list, but it is a great idea and the accomplishment of these things must feel great. :)

  13. Tiffany

Sounds like you have accomplished a lot. I should probably take inspiration from all of you and start one of my own. Also, glad to hear you are feeling better and that there has been some progress on the health insurance front :)

  14. I think it is brave to tackle “lists”, I always thought I was anally organized but I can’t stick to lists .. I don’t know why? Oh… going to check out the Movies tomorrow.. I wanted to tell you girls to check out Ramen Girl, have you seen it?

    Sorry…

Anyhoo, I am so jealous that you are slam packed right in the middle of Tokyo, DAMN! Okay, I’m in Nagoya city, but Nagoya is not TOKYO.. I would exhaust myself shopping, you however are on productive path, keep up the good work with getting to all your lists, or finishing the list I should say…. Wasn’t it HOT today?

I must have spent 1000yen on vending machine water PET bottles…

  15. You busy bee.Impressive stuff.And lol at Midori’s comment..I am the same;)

  16. I think you’re doing really great with your list Lulu!!! :)
