Resting is boring…

I am over the whole “resting” thing already. Not that I had plans for the last two days before pre-term labour was threatened but I think because I feel like I might be “resting” for weeks that I hate it so much. Honestly there is only so much downloaded English TV you can watch before you want to bang your head against a wall.

Yesterday I got some things ready in case Goma-chan does decide to make an early appearance. I washed all the baby clothes and semi packed a hospital bag- there is a list on top of the bag of things that need to go last minute. I was so bored I even put Japanese next to most of the items so that Shun could pack it if he had to- that said he probably would of understood the English version but I was just that bored.

I also baked muffins and made lasange for dinner. I love lasange. Oh and a package arrived from Gaijin Wife so I had fun oohing and aahing over all the cute things that she has passed on from Ryu- plus a baby bath!

Today I slept in til after 12:00pm (after very painful braxton hicks for a couple of hours between 5am-7am that meant I didn`t sleep) and then did washing and basically nothing else. In case I sleep in, like I did this morning, Shun always makes sure I have orange juice and the medicine before he leaves for work- it is kind of sweet that he brings it for me.

The medicine makes my hands shake after I take it but apart from that no other side affects- however if it was supposed to stop the braxton hicks contractions it is doing a shit job. The night before last I had regular BH contractions 5 minutes apart that lasted for 45 seconds to a minute each time and they went on for almost three hours. I was too scared to sleep in case I woke up with a baby…. (I realize this is highly unlikely but still!). Maybe the medicine is just to stop me from dilating and effacing- hope that is working! I want Goma-chan to stay inside for at least another couple of week but another 5 weeks or more would be great- as much as I want to meet him!

There are other things I could do at home- like other cooking and crafting and writing and stuff but I don`t have the motivation. I wish I did because I have so much time on my hands. So if you are sending “stay in their Goma-chan vibes” can you also send some “Lulu get motivated” vibes?

I am heading out tomorrow to a friend`s place just up the road- is it sad that I am so excited about a study date because I get to walk there and be outside? Seeing Elizabeth again will be fun though and like last time I doubt we will actually get much study done!!!! Another friend is coming here for lunch on Friday which will be nice as well.

Hope the meds start working soon – all those BHs sound painful, and scary. Thinking of you guys – take care of yourself and goma-chan!

Marianne- Thanks! I need all the vibes I can get!

TJ- Luckily most of the BHs are not painful- just kind of uncomfortable. Kind of restricts my movement to when they are happening. I think if they get painful and stay that way then I will need to panic…

    Thanks for the well wishes!

Good luck keeping the bun in there…if you haven’t checked already, make sure that your birth center has lots of water available for you. Mine in Tokyo didn’t, and I was ridiculously thirsty in the days following the birth, and no water in sight! I had my husband running down to Family Mart to buy gallons as soon as he got back from work. Mati was born in November, which isn’t too cold in Tokyo yet, but they had the bloody heat cranked to the max! Water!

I’m sorry to hear that the medication is not working. I would definitely be bringing it up at your next doctors appointment. Hopefully you are right in your opinion that they aren’t meant to be stopping the BH’s but making sure you don’t diliate…

I understand completely about the no motivation thing – that’s the story of my life!! I have so much stuff that I could do be doing but instead I waste my days away basically doing nothing.

Hope you have a nice day with Elizabeth today :)

Jessica C- Thanks for the well wishes! I have never thought about water because I figured I could buy it if I needed to- I am not fussy either and would be happy with tap water from the kitchen. I am not sure if it is provided? I will need to check.

They do have a vending machine downstairs though that you can buy water from.

That would of sucked though- I hate places that have the heat cranked up for no good reason. Seriously- the babies are wearing clothes and wrapped in blankets- they are NOT going to catch a cold!

Nay- That is what I am hoping! I might need to go back before my next scheduled appointment though but we will see- Shun thinks I should ring (or he should ring) to double check what the medicine is supposed to be doing.

I wish I had motivation- if I find some I will be sure to send some your way as well. Off to Elizabeth`s in about an hour!

Sophie- sorry your comment got caught in my spam (too many smily faces! haha, I don`t know how to stop it from doing that but anyone that uses more than one gets stuck in SPAM)

Will do about the Skype! I am kind of always online in the background anyway- if someone skypes me I am on invisable but the computer is on constantly anyway…

Same as what I said to Nay- if I find some motivation I will send it your way. That said you seem to have a lot for making halloween supplies- all of which are very cute!

Keep hanging in there Lulu! I don’t know if BH ever stop entirely even if you’re on medication, maybe someone who has taken it before can pipe up. I do know that I get BH fairly often these days — they usually aren’t painful, but sometimes they do make you pause for a second. What I have heard is that you need to really worry if the contractions are a) painful, b) occuring at regular intervals, and c) the time between them is decreasing. It couldn’t hurt to call your clinic and ask them how you will know if the medication is working or not though, and what warning signs you should look out for to know whether you should go in immediately or not.

Oh! To answer your other question, we still don’t know what sex baby #2 is. I don’t think there’s really much chance of that changing at this point, so we’re stocking up on green and yellow stuff. It’ll be kind of cool to have the whole “surprise, its a ___!” thing though. The funny part is that my parents are convinced that I actually *do* know, but are just holding out on them. I actually had to sort of tell my dad off the other day because his insistence that I must know the sex and am just trying to pull a big surprise on everyone was starting to annoy me. If I knew, so would everyone else, I am not good at keeping secrets!

Hang in there Lulu– I always sleep after 11, because I don’t get to bed until after 2. I prep dinner (as of recent) then get home after 10 p.m. from work.. Unwind, do my 45 min of aerobics, and I am in bed by 2.

4 out of seven days– if you sleep till 12, it is because you need it.. Are you like me, one of those gals who need their 8 hours? I am, or I am GROUCHY and can’t function right.

Have you thought about maybe getting Hikari or Sky Perfect HD? I’m a movie buff and can’t be without my English programs… When I broke my knee, it was the only thing that kept me sane, that and magazines Galore, and my lap top.

Sending you lots of baking baby and motivation vibes.

2 suggestions: Subscribe to Craftzine blog, lots of motivation there, and download all seven seasons of Gilmore Girls. And all 3 seasons of Veronica Mars. Those kept me sane while baking Julian.

I’m sending you some ’stay in bed, Lulu’ vibes!!! :o )

  13. gaijinwife, 21. October 2009, 20:27

Going to sleep and waking up with a baby I would think would be in the top ten of good birth experiences!! Hope he doesn’t want to meet you too soon though. That few hours of regular long BH doesn’t sound nice.

Enjoy the sleeping late. Although newborns sleep lots so you might be able to have a few more lazy mornings yet – its when they reach about two and are convinced that if they don’t get out of bed at half four the day will pass them by.
