Poinsetta, hat and swelling…

  • Shun bought me a poinsetta plant on Saturday after the “traumatic” appointment at the doctors. I am feeling much calmer now by the way- isn`t it cute though? It is certainly brightening up our apartment!!!
  • Poinsetta from Shun

  • Also knit a hat for Goma-chan using hand spun yarn from Cassie`s shop- I think I may even have enough yarn left to make some matching booties but will see how I go.
  • Hat for Goma-chan

  • I haven`t had any blood pressure issues at all during my pregnancy but for some reason I am now retaining fluid in my feet- namely my right foot. I think it is my right foot more so because my left foot doesn`t have as good a circulation due to previous ankle injuries. Also, my wedding rings still fit BUT last night my left hand (and only my left hand!) swelled up over night so I took them off just to be on the safe side. Feels weird not to be wearing my wedding rings- I think this is the first time since getting married that they have been off for more than a minute or so.
  • Have been busy looking into accommodation for my brother and his girlfriend for their visit to Japan next March/April- They are here for about 16 days so plan to do a fair bit of traveling down to Kyoto (with day trips to Nara & Osaka), Hiroshima, Himeji and then also some day trips out of Tokyo/Chiba while they are staying with us. It is fun helping them plan their trip!!! Should be able to finalize their bookings for them tomorrow!!! I can`t wait for them to get here- Goma-chan will be about 3 and a half months by then and they will be able to meet him for the first time. The plan is for them to stay with us for 3 nights at the start of their trip and then again for 3-4 nights at the end of their trip.
  • Nesting seems to have hit me a bit- I can not seem to sit still for very long and keep thinking of things I could do and writing lists of things to do for the following day. I scrubbed the kitchen floor (literally on all fours!), cleaned the stove top and grill and cleaned out the entire fridge all in the last 24 hours. Plus regular things like dusting, washing, repacking my hospital bag for like the 3rd time, cooking and more. Good thing we live in an apartment and I can`t do anything like paint the walls (but I did think about it!)- I think I am definitely getting to the sick of being pregnant stage of pregnancy as well. Seems very hard to find comfortable positions to sit/lay in and my back has been aching (the scrubbing actually helped this though!)

Lisa E- Thanks. It is from the stitch and bitch book and called umbilical cord hat. I would be happy to copy and send you if you want! It is a easy baby hat (which is good for me!)

I have the Stitch and Bitch book! I think I remember that hat. I tried a hat once, it didn’t work out too well, and I have been afraid of them ever since. One of my coworkers is having a baby so maybe I’ll attempt the hat. Easy sounds good!

Definitely give it a go! It is the only hat I have ever made and this is my 4th one- have made it as a gift a couple times before as well. I am not the best knitter but this pattern is easy to follow and doesn`t take too long!! Good luck

I love that plant Shun bought you – it is beautiful!! Does it smell at all?

The hat is gorgeous – I can just imagine goma chan wearing it this winter. He is going to look so cute. If you have time (and motivation) to make the booties then I would go for it – what could be better than a matching hat and bootie set!!

Have fun helping to plan your brother and his girlfriend’s trip to Japan!! I love planning trips… wish I could do it more often, lol!

Nay, you know what Shun is like- doesn`t always know what to do when stuff is going wrong so he bought me a plant to cheer me up! He remembered a couple of years ago (like 3!) that he bought me a poinsetta just before Christmas and I loved it and he saw this one when he went to the dentist after I had been to the doctor`s on Saturday and was shook up by dr`s c-section news. It doesn`t smell at all though! The red parts are actually leaves that have gone red- apparently we can keep it alive until next year but we would need to put it in a box for 4 months from May or so otherwise it won`t go red next year. Weird huh?

I think I will start on some boots in the next couple of days- I have only made booties with thicker wool though- not sure how I would go with this thinner wool- might need to find a different pattern!!

Hotels are booked for their stay in Japan- they planned their trip based on advice I gave them! Ie, good places to visit and see etc. Brother just sent back all the dates in the last couple of days and I organized their accomodation. Fun to plan trips, hey!

oohh cute hat! Nesting urge huh? You know what the old wives tales say about that, baby on it`s way soon. Excellent sign (even if it comes to nothing soon). Scrubbing on all fours also good for dilation :)
Great to hear you are in good spirits and once again keeping yourself busy.
    Stay well.

My doctor told me on monday the only thing to do about the swollen feet was to have them a bit up (on a cussion,…) at night. I have to say that I do not like that much, just *another* thing to make things uncomfortable.

Oh, and lovely hat! I really wish I could knit.

Ooh, sounds as if baby is coming SOON! I remember scrubbing the kitchen floor on hands and knees too..day or two before L was born :) I love the plant and the gorgeous hat too! The colour of the wool is fab! Hope you’re all packed and ready to go!
