My Aussie grandfather when he was alive was always referred to as “Poppy” by all of his grandchildren (and at that time there were 27 of us…now 29) and my dad decided that he also wanted to be a “Poppy” so that is what we call him in front of Noah…

Shun also took a couple of photos of me and Noah yesterday- most of the time I am behind the camera so it was nice to get a couple of the two of us! Noah even has a faint smile on his face in this one
Oh, and this is a recent favourite- I gave him a mohawk and stuck him in his bumbo which for some reason he found hilarious…
Putting things in his mouth (mainly his hands but also toys) is a new thing and this is him trying to suck on “Tako Tako`s” nose….
He is definitely one of the most photographed children on the planet!!!

I am just a twenty something Aussie girl living in Chiba, Japan with my Japanese husband trying to make sense of the crazy Japanese world we live in! We welcomed our first son in December 2009 (Noah) and a second son in January 2011, 2 months premature (Shion). I am working hard at raising them to be confident, bilingual, happy kids!

Annika is also recently into sucking on her hands. She can’t really get toys into her mouth yet, but she’ll gnaw on her clothing and mine too if it comes anywhere near her face.

Awesome pics Lulu – especially considering the 24 hour lead up to them being taken. You are looking fantastic and Noah is definately smiling at you – and love him cracking up. He will love those pics with poppy later on. If not anything else at least you got some nice pics of the two of them
I had a Poppy too! The photos are lovely, you’ll cherish them. Some of them. It’s SO hard to cull baby photos though! I still have loads and loads of them.
Noah is definitely going to treasure the photos of himself with his poppy when he is older – I love them!!
