I agree with all the comments about the sleeping/napping issues. Do whatever works for you and Noah. My two were doing the 7pm - 7am sleep thing for about a year and I thought (naturally) that I was the best mummy in the world! Things change - routines help, but these should be flexible. Now they go to hoikuen, there's no way they can get up as late as 7am!! Both my two love a drink at bedtime and it works so I do it. I always read a few books at bedtime too - all that concentrating on pictures and mummy's voice droning on sends them to sleep!

We have a few Mem Fox books too - Time for Bed and Koala Lou. Will try to get hold of Reading Magic too. I read both English and Japanese books to the kids. I wanted to do only English and hub to do the Japanese books, but in reality this has never happened because hub is never here at bedtime! The kids are a bit older now so have their favourites and tell me which books they want to read.

I noticed last night (I originaly read your post a couple of days ago but didn't get around to commenting) that Joey has a couple of Mem Fox books that his Godmother has sent him over the years. (She lives in Perth)

I fed Joey to sleep for about 90% of his naps/nighttimes until we stopped BF-ing (the other 10% would be times when he fell asleep in the car/buggy :-)) and I don't think it has done him much harm. He is perfectly capable of putting himself to sleep (Although he does like to have a pre-bedtime snuggle, which is fair enough!) and his teeth are fine. I remember finally giving up bedtime bottles at the age of 5 just before going to primary school and yes, that was probably a little late but it hasn't left me scarred for life so I have to agree with Jess. I guess I have always leaned towards the "whatever works" style of parenting as well though!! :-)

When you work out photoshop I am sending all my stuff to you. My photoshop expert moved out and I cannot get my head around all the rastersizing and shizzle.

You work that out and I will bow to your awesomeness!

(and I am poking my tongue out at you cause I still haven't lost the baby weight from my first child and she is EIGHTEEN!)

I had a hard time getting into the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. But I was on vacation and had nothing else to do. The names are tedious. Wait til you get halfway through. You won't be able to put it down!

Ditto to all the sleep issues, remember he is just a baby, it`s not like he can reason or figure out that he is tired and must sleep..and he`s probably learning more everyday about his surrounding and becoming more aware. With anything new or different from routine Miss A would cry a lot a the beginning, I just put it down to learning new stuff.
Gambatte, it`s just another of those things you learn as you go and no-one really tells you, just do what works for you.

I think I agree with suzy about the naps. If Noah needs a feed to get to sleep then so be it. For what its worth, DS is going to be three in October and he still takes a bottle at bedtime. He *can* fall asleep without it but it is part of his bedtime routine and I'm pretty sure he won't be taking a bottle before bed when he's 7 or anything so meh, whatever. I've always been more of a "whatever works" sort of mom when it comes to sleep though. :)

That theory on reading is really interesting! I need to read to Missha more... ><

Mostly wanted to comment to say I still read... but I guess since your posts are long and cover lot's of interesting topics about your life, I'm finding it hard to focus and write any comments in response XD In a bit of a can't focus for long, and feel like I have a million things to do (though I don't) kinda mood lately. Forgive me. =)

I read Reading Magic when Ali was about the same ages as Noah, and thought it was great. Ali loves books now, and they're part of the bedtime routine.

With the naps, the only advice I have it to try and not let it bug you too much. In my experience baby's schedules change all the time without rhyme or reason & the books that tell you otherwise are fibbing. If you think Noah needs a nap and feeding him gets him to sleep, I would just go with whatever works for you.
