We arrived in Australia safe and sound Thursday morning last week. Flight was terrible and while Noah slept from 10pm-1am he then screamed from 1am-3:30am before falling back to sleep in exhaustion until the food cart came around an hour later. I had absolutely NO SLEEP. Oh well, at least the long haul flight back Shun will be with me.
Wedding in Melbourne was FANTASTIC but a really long day. Thankfully my mum survived almost 24 hours of watching Noah (I left the hotel at 5:50am and got back just after 1am!) and he was very happy to see me when he woke up the next morning (at 6am- eek!).
Got to see friends in Melbourne and meet some new ones. Was lovely to catch up and 2 friends got to meet Noah for the first time and some others hadn`t seen him in a couple of months.
Only just got the wireless set up on my laptop and am now up in Brisbane. So far pretty relaxing time- lots of friends to catch up with and family to see also. Thankfully we are here for a longish time so I can catch up with everyone!
Noah starts baby swimming next Monday which I am excited about (him, maybe not so much since bath time seems to be stressing him out lately. He is a funny child and will happily sleep anywhere but if I expect him to have a bath anywhere but his own bath forget it as he just screams the entire time- hopefully he will adjust to mums bath sooner rather than later)
His walking is taking off- he will happily walk between objects or between his toys and me or someone else. Still a bit wobbly. His favourite thing to do is walk outside holding onto one of my hands and pick flowers and leaves off trees. Getting in touch with nature he is!!!
Thanks for all the hints on the wooden toys in the last post. I am heading to one shop on Sunday. Jessica, Noah actually has some wooden toys from the site you mentioned that my cousin sent me when he was born. A Buzzy Bee and a toy car! He loves both!

Glad to hear you arrived safe and sound – ish :p the flight back will be heaps better. Wish you had a faster internet set up so we could see some pics
Yay for granny looking after Noah for so long and letting you go to the wedding. have a great time catching up with family and friends.
Sounds like you’re having fun in oz! Hope the baby swimming classes go well. The infamous buzzy bee is always a popular choice! They also last for years! Enjoy your holiday!
ugh shame about the flight, but must be nice to be back, even for a visit
You might have already tried this, but we managed to solve my baby’s bathtime dramas by filling the bath and hopping in with her (obviously need someone else’s help to pass them in to you and take them before you hop out). She’ll now happily bath on her own but it’s become a lovely ritual for us when we have time.
Hope you have a great holiday!
Thanks everyone!
Ali, just wanted to say, that was the original issue is that in Japan we always bath together because of the deep bath (and it is always me alone bathing him so I get in with him and out with him and just dry him off and wrap him up before wrapping myself in a towel.
The bath here is a bit different- I could hop in with him but when we were here in August he actually enjoyed getting in by himself. Luckily last night, and the night before, he seems to have calmed down a bit and is much happier about bathtime. He is just funny about baths! Likes it to be HIS bath.
We had the same issue when we swapped him from a baby bath to the big bath.
Glad to hear you arrived safe and sound!
