I can`t sleep so figure I will blog. I am having the urge to blog a lot more often recently- maybe because it is something just for me and I don`t get a lot of that now. I should really be trying to sleep though since we have Chiba Peanuts Multicultural Playgroup tomorrow (1 year since I started it with a friend!)
The other day I wrote down what the boys did/ate/what time they slept etc….Sounds boring right? But to be honest I love schedules and I love reading what other people do with their kids/how much they sleep/what they eat. I know everyones an individual and all that (yada yada yada) but still I find it interesting.
Let`s start with Noah (This was from 18 May 2011)- Noah is 17 months old (A day in the life of a 17 month old- yep, exciting stuff! We stick to a schedule of lunch at about 11:30, nap from about 12pm, snack in the afternoon about 3pm, dinner sometime before 6pm and milk usually around 9am and 7pm and bed about 7:30pm- I like to have a schedule)
Just before 7am; Woke up, had some cuddles with me, played with his stacking blocks
7:30am: Breakfast- vegemite toast, strawberries and an apple bar
7:45-9am: Ran around playing, helped me wake up Shun around 8am, Shun went to work at 9:20am.
9am: 120ml milk in a bottle.
9:05am-9:15am- We did some colouring.
9:15am: Got dressed. Bit of a battle for him to put pants on!
9:30am-10:30am-Wiggles dvd “So you feel like dancing” while I got Shion ready and fed him.
10:35am- Head to the post office and then onto the park for a play in the sand pit and on the slide
11:40am- Head home, make quesidillas for lunch and Noah eats ham, cheese, tomato quesidillas, some chicken and half a kiwi fruit.
12:10pm- Read some stories
12:15-2:55pm- Nap. Long nap, so he woke up happy!
3:00pm: Snack of sultanas and some honey flavoured tiny teddy`s
3:30pm: Head to the shops to pick up the double pram which had a flat (Giant ordeal, I was carrying Shion in a carrier and Noah had to walk but I had to keep picking him up so essentially carried both boys over 1km to the shops)- strapped both boys into the double stroller and did some food shopping.
4:30pm: Got home, put a dvd on, prepared dinner- Noah watched 30 minutes of “Pop Goes the Wiggles” and then I turned if off and we played for a bit while Shion was on his mat- Noah tried helping Shion to roll over.
5:40pm: Noah has dinner- pizza chicken, cous cous and a small yogurt
6:10pm: We hopped in the shower, Noah sat and read some stories by himself but wasn`t interested in having me read to him.
7:00pm: 100ml of milk in a bottle and I put the rest of the dvd from earlier on.
7:20pm: Dvd finished, I asked him if he wanted to read a story but he didn`t want to sit so he went into bed about 7:25pm.
When I look at it typed up like that it is actually pretty dull…..We did go out twice that day though which is unusual. Usually we would only go out in the morning or the afternoon…
Shion`s day was probably even more dull (He was 4.5 months (actual age), 2.5 months corrected)
The night before he finally settled at 8:40pm (although it was in his bouncer)
1:30am: Wake up and feed, back to bed but he was gassy so I held him upright for a bit and he finally went back into his cot at 2:15am.
7:55am: Shion wakes up for the day, nappy change and a feed
8:15am-8:30am- In his bouncer with music/lights on, Noah “supervising”, Shion was kicking a lot and making a grab for the toys a bit
8:30-9:00am In his bouncer, just chilling out- watching Noah run around like a mad man.
9:00am- 9:20am impromptu cat nap with Shun on the beanbag…Shun picked him up for some cuddles and they both fell asleep
9:30am- went down for a proper nap (albeit in the bouncer)
10:15am- Feed and did exploding poo, good thing he was still in PJs, changed him.
10:35am- Went to post office and park- he dozed in the carrier. I put him in the (single) pram once we got to the park since Noah was going to run around anyway. From 11am he was awake and enjoyed been pushed around in the pram.
12:00-12:40pm- sleep (in bouncer)
12:40pm- Feed
12:50-1:45pm- One on one time with mama (we did some singing, read a story, played a bit and he helped me upload some photos to facebook
)
1:45pm-3pm- Sleep, on his tummy, in his cot
3:00pm- I woke him up, fed him and we headed to the shops at 3:30pm
4:00pm- dozed in pram for 20-30 minutes
4:30pm- Helped mama with dinner by sitting in the bouncer at her feet (while Noah watched wiggles)
5:00pm- Mat play, attempting to roll
5:15pm- Feed
5:40pm- Watched mama feed Noah from the bouncer
6:30pm- Bath time, lots of smiles
6:40pm- Feed, fell asleep, didn`t burp
7:15pm- Woke up, fed again, burped, fell asleep, I put Noah to bed, Shion woke up, burped, fed again, burped and burped again and finally into his cot at 8:15pm (He slept until 4am)
Shion still spends a lot of his time dozing and feeding. I feed him about 8 times a day- pretty often during the day I guess but he sleeps well overnight. Sometimes all the way through til 6-7am without waking up for a feed overnight but more often than not he will wake up to feed once.
Today we all napped. It was strange (as I am not a napper- this might be why I am still awake tonight)- Noah went down at 12:15pm or so, woke up screaming at 1pm (WAY TOO SHORT OF A NAP) and then we came out to the living room and I layed with him on the beanbag and he clutched his blanket and went back to sleep- Shion was still awake in the bouncer (but I had fed him before Noah had woken up) so I picked up Shion and put him to sleep in his bed and then I layed down for a second (on the bed, all doors were open though so I could head Noah) and next thing I know it is 2:50pm and Noah is climbing into bed with me. I hadn`t heard him wake up- I guess he didn`t cry/talk and he just came looking for me. Giant shock though because I thought it was already Wednesday and I said to him “Where`s daddy?” and “WAH, overslept, have to get ready for playgroup”
I think I was confused because when I fell asleep it was raining outside and when I woke up it was all sunny, hence me thinking it was a new day.
So we ALL had longish naps today

I LOVE schedules and we still have one with the girls and they are 7 and 5! I can’t believe how much Shion sleeps!! What a great kid. Glad your double buggy is back in action- makes such a difference, huh?
Heather- Yes, without the double buggy I felt lost, and a little “trapped” as if I couldn`t go far from the house. Not that I go far anyway but the double buggy just makes things so much easier.
I think my boys will still have schedules when they are that age too- I haven`t really got a schedule for Shion yet – kind of waiting until he moves to two solid naps a day. Shion is a big sleeper- it is good though as I am sure that is when he does most of his growing!!!!
