I love lists. Who doesn`t? (really…..are there people who don`t like lists out there?). Seeing as we are home bound this week after Shion tested positive for influenza on Friday and Noah & I on Saturday I figured why not blog? I don`t have lesson plans to do since I had to cancel all of my work til Friday and I am totally ignoring housework since i feel poorly. So I figured I would link up to Deb`s new linky listmania. Not sure if I will link up each week or not but I will when I feel the urge!
This week is easy as it is all about what I am currently doing. Which isn`t much!
Currently I am…
Reading… facebook status updates. Oh wait…probably should put a book hey. On my ipad I am reading “Peaceful Parent, Happy Kids: How to Stop Yelling & Start Connecting” by Dr Laura Markham. As for paper books I am half way through a Sandra Brown romance/mystery. With the kids I am reading a lot of Eric Carle {The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Brown Bear & Does a Kangaroo have a mother too?}, I love you stinky face, Duck! Rabbit! {by Amy Krouse Rosenthal – love her books!} and Do`s & Don`ts.
listening to… silence. Yes. The kids are in bed. Actually I am listening to typing noises. Earlier today we had a itunes genius mix which had Adele, Lenka, John Lennon, Jackson 5 & Modest Mouse….quite the odd mix.
laughing at… The things Noah says. Today he had a tantrum when he woke from his nap because he was upset I was wearing a bra. It took me about 10 minutes to figure out what he was crying about/saying and it turns out he was upset because he didn`t have one. I had to laugh!
swooning over… Kids books. We have more than enough but I still want more. I was also swooning over some boots on Javari earlier…..Oh how I would love some new boots!
planning… Our budget for the year and ways to save money so that we can go on a holiday somewhere within Japan or perhaps overseas. Best friend in Singapore for the next 2 years…would love to go alone for a bit of a break sometime while she lives there. I miss traveling but in recent years any extra cash has gone to trips back to Australia {which we are also planning for this year}
eating lots of… Comfort food to keep us warm. Also lots of mikan {mandarins}. Also trying NOT to eat too much chocolate as one of my goals for the first part of the year was to lose 3kg by end of March.
feeling… A bit better than yesterday. Glad we had flu shots. Even though we got the flu it has been pretty mild.
discovering… A desire to blog again. It definitely comes and goes.
looking at… The weather forecast predicting snow overnight and for Thursday. Also looking at my journal where I have the prompts for this weeks list written down.
wearing… Uniqlo fleece pajamas and red woolen socks. A fashion statement for sure!
cooking… Eggplant/mushroom and pesto pasta for dinner tonight. Something quick and easy that I knew the kids would like. Also cooking a lot of omelettes lately since Shion is a huge fan of eggs and now Noah is too! Their favourite so far was spinach, cheese and smoked salmon! Since we are indoors all day tomorrow I have promised Noah we could make apple cake or muffins. Cooking with the kids is fun but also very stressful!!!
wondering… Who will read this list and what they will be thinking. Also wondering if Shun remembered to take an umbrella to work like I told him he should of if he will walk in the door later wet since the rain/snow is supposed to start soon.
trying out… Writing something I am grateful for everyday so far this year. Since most days I have written 2-3 things I have 60 or so things I have written about so far in my journal. Today`s gratitude points were getting outside despite being quarantined- I think we all needed the fresh air!, feeling better than yesterday, having a proof reading job come in this morning and getting good feedback on it, Noah writing his own name unprompted for the first time on his colouring sheet and having a calm, no yelling day.

Love your list! I hear you on swooning over the kids books. We have a big floor to ceiling bookshelf full and I keep buying more!
Oh and budgets…I’m in the process of doing ours too…it’s actually quite scary how much we spend!
We have all the stinky face books. I read I love you stinky face so many times when they were little sigh.
I hope you all feel better soon lovely xx
I read it! Now you don’t need to wonder
Good luck with the budget planning. We’re planning on going to Australia this year, which will take a pretty significant chunk of our budget, I’m sure.
I also love kids books, although there’s no kids to share them with. I admire your restraint to not be literally drowning under them!
Great list.
I need to try and work out a budget but I’m a bit scared to be honest – to see home much money we are wasting. Gaaahhhhh. Really do need to do this. Love that Noah wrote his name. That is awesome. xxx
I love your list, am a bit of a list maniac myself. Love thinking them up, love writing them down, love crossing things off on them (far too little of that happening recently however!)
A crowd favourite omlete here is spinach, caramelized onions, and feta cheese. U was convinced he HATED goat cheese until he tried the omlete, and… well…
Glad omletes are going down well for your boys!
Hope you’re all feeling better soon.
the flu sucks but getting more blog posts from you is a bonus for the rest of us!
I need to get back into reading parenting books…. Instead of just shaking my head and giving up!
The sound track to your evening sounds eclectic but fun!
Love your list. I’m sorry you’re all unwell – my family was unwell too this week. I’ve just ordered the Peaceful Parent book and am eagerly waiting Fishpond to deliver it. I run a Peaceful Parenting workshop so I’m hoping it has some good tips I can add!
Take care and get better!
Sharon
Books and boots- would love so much more of both!
