Something new everyday…

Is it true…do you learn something new everyday? Does this include things you learn about your partner?

A couple of days ago I bought bananas…I deliberately bought them a little green because I will only eat `new` bananas…In other words I will only eat them after buying them on the first or second day. A little neurotic perhaps but that is the way I like them. If I haven`t eaten them after three days then they will not get eaten, I can guarantee it.

Turns out Shumpei only likes `new` bananas too. I never knew that…After three years together I am still learning new things about him. I know it is crazy to say that you know EVERYTHING about your partner and I don`t believe people that say they do…and if they really do know everything there is to know then I pity them a little bit because where is the fun in that. I love it when I learn something new about Shumpei, even if it is something trivial to do with bananas.

Wouldn’t`t it be true to say that you learn more than one new thing everyday? I read the news on-line and everything I read it I am learning something new right? Does this count?

Do you think you could go the whole day without learning something new? What new things have you learnt recently?

Seahorse…

I couldn`t remember the English word for seahorse today…I think I have been in Japan too long.

I can also never remember the word renovate. That word eludes me all the time…Although I can`t remember the Japanese word for that either!

Is it normal to forget words from your native language?

Wrong place…Wrong time…

I was having a great weekend. My cold was over, I was feeling good. Met up with my new work friends, Cat and some others for some drinks and karaoke in Shinjuku on Saturday night. Came home with this…

6 staples later...Lot of blood...

I want to point out, before I had six staples in my head I had a great night!!! It all just went a big wrong.

Basically a friend of a friend got really drunk. At Karaoke he was all over the shop and when one of his female friends tried to take away his beer he pushed her a little. She was next to me so I put out my hand to grab the beer and push it away to help her. Well at was faster I guess cos he grabbed the beer glass with his other hand pulled it away and hit me on the head with it. I didn`t really see it coming.

The rest is a bit of a blur. I remember Trevor, Stefanie`s (who I work with) husband holding paper towel after paper towel to my head and blood all over the place and reassuring me I would be fine. One girl crying and saying sorry (She was the one he pushed)….This all happened while two others were singing Under the Sea from the little mermaid….strange that I remember something like that really. I remember security, lots of staff, lots of paper towels. Then ambulance people arrived and that was when I got really scared since there were at least 15 ambulance staff ( NO JOKE!) and 6 or 7 cops. And while I was been told I would be fine…it is not very reassuring to have that many people fuss over you…it makes you think your are dying and that all those people telling you that you will be fine are lying.

I didn`t file charges although was urged that I should. Wasn`t really in the mood to talk to police men though. The police said something about maybe ringing me sometime in the next 2 weeks in case I change my mind. I won`t. I think because it happened in a public place if they decide to they can file charges and sue him anyway.

The guy came to Kichijoji today to apologize and give me money for medical expenses. He doesn`t remember anything he says. Was very Japanese about the whole thing. Money in an envelope, almost got on the ground to bow and say sorry. I thought he was going to cry….

Personally I hope I never see him again. I hope nothing bad happens to him either though. I know he was drunk. I shouldn’t`t have done anything but I did and now I got six staples in my head. Trust me when I say that getting staples in your head too, is just what it sounds like. Actual staples. Feels like that too.

Luckily, after another visit to the doctor today I could take off the bandage and wash my hair. Staples will be in for another week though. There was beer in the glass that he hit me with (Thing giant heavy German style beer glass) so I was really happy to be able to wash my hair today since It smelt like blood and 48 hour old beer. Not pleasant.

Ps: I really need to thank Trevor, Catherine and Sumi for everything. Cat and Sumi for taking good care of me in the ambulance and coming to the hospital and waiting. Sumi for taking care of all the Japanese stuff and answering questions about my name address etc etc. And to Trevor, because of his quick thinking I didn`t lose nearly as much blood as I should of. He kept me calm.

Pps: Sorry about the white head band Jen!!! It got a lot of great use before this incident!

Ppps: Sorry to any of you that get queasy over blood.

A hair in James’ Obento…

I have nothing interesting to write about as my weekend was fairly quiet although had dinner with Alex & Ei-chan on Friday who have recently gotten together and are so adorable….Plus I was happy to introduce Ei-chan to buritos (He was happily surprised because when he used to visit me as a student a couple of years ago all I ever made for him was pizza or pasta…Don’t get me wrong I could cook other things back then but they were the easiest…)

My friend James was here Saturday and he found a hair in his Obento…I know he reads my blog so I thought I’d bring it up again because I want to know if he gags while reading this post. I didn’t actually see the hair…and I was not allowed to bring it up because he kept gagging. So James….haha there was a hair in your Obento box (Obento box is like a lunch box that usually you buy at the supermarket or conbini usually with some meat or fish, rice and then either a salad or something gross and pickled. I am not a huge fan……I am less of a fan now that I know there was a hair in one (Also it was a classy obento box also…expensive one from lonlon!)…….GROSS!!!

It reminded me of that story about how someone found a human finger in their can of coke?!

Anyone got any crazy gross food stories…Please don’t make them too gross because then I will gag…Which is never fun!

Ps: I apologise for the recent lack in decent posts…I don’t really have much to say and while my blog has always been kind of dull I now seem to have no inspiration….any hints?? Maybe all the coffee is doing my head in…

Magic pee cone….

While reading the BUST magazine sent to me all the way from California by Charlene i came across an intresting advertorial on page 26 titled ‘I.P Freely- The Magic Cone lets you pee all that you can pee’ by Callie Watts. Thats right ladies you can now pee standing up with this special magic cone although it does come with a warning that you should “flow slowly (not full force), or you’ll catch back splash” oh but this line was my favourite “The pee really heats up, but don’t be alarmed it won’t burn through the cardboard (if it did, you’d have bigger problems on your hands than just piss)”

Just what a woman needs- A disposable urinal funnel for external use. For more information on this little beauty visit their website at www.magic-cone.com.

Oil in a can…

I am sick of using oil, even if it is olive oil from Italy, in all cooking. Why the hell doesn’t Japan have oil in a spray can like back home?

I wonder if i could sneak some onto the plane home?? Or is there anywhere in Tokyo you can get it?

Dolce & Gabbana boy…

On the train home today i sat across from a guy that had a Dolce & Gabbana polo on, with Dolce & Gabbana Jeans and a Dolce & Gabanna belt (discovered later) and it gets worse…he had a Dolce & Gabbana MAN BAG…. The shoes, well i couldn’t see if they were D & G or not but they looked as if they could be. To top it off he had a necklace, like a pendent thing, not very large but still there, around his neck with a D & G on it. He stood up, and we both got off at Shibuya and i thought he smelled like Cologne… if i had one guess at what it was i would Probably have to go with Dolce & Gabbana….He was about 22 or 23. I thought the LV and D&G craze was just for Japanese girls…

In other news Shumpei officially moved in on Saturday…I am so glad he doesn’t own anything that is Dolce & Gabbana!!!
